Circa 1900 is a beautiful jewellery store specialising in antiques and designer pieces. they have incredible rings and cuff links and the most beautiful antique butterfly brooches. it is situated above another jewellery store called Esme, which is much more suited to my recent graduate budget, but it is nevertheless a lovely place to browse and dream. if someone does ever propose to me I hope he would have the imagination and financial ability to choose an antique ring from a place like this.

This passage is really the home of some exotic and tiny shops. Circa 1900 deals with what it name says; arts & crafts, art nouveau jewellery & cufflinks circa 1900 –1930. Their collection includes Charles Horner, Murrle Bennett, Marius Hammer, James Fenton, Bernard Instone and Liberty. I do not know much about jewellery but I do know Charles Horner’s work, as my best friend is from Halifax, where he begun his business over 100 years ago. I was delighted to see his pieces, as you can imagine they are not cheap they can range from £100– over £500 so I could only browse. However, there a re many more pieces than can be found for less than £100. There is a lot of clutter and it can look a bit messy, which can be detrimental to the beautiful jewellery the shop has. The rings are simply breath taking, I don’t want to sound too poetic but you can feel they really can tell a story. I have found another Christmas gift to hint to my husband!
