Chop’d

I went to Chop’d for the first time today and I really enjoyed my meal.
Chop’d is a salad place and they do it well. While thy have ready made stuff like wrap soup etc for me their USP is that you can make your own salad from the tons of fresh ingredients.
Start with a base — deli leaves, couscous or pasta, add upto 3 toppings or house items (4 if you don’t need a bag), one main deli item like mozzarella or chorizos or roast chicken, could even double up and then add sundries and garnishing and finish it off with a choice of dressing.
They have a wide variety of ingredients so the number of permutations and combination that you could try out is probably a million different. I would like to mix different things up and try out, I feel that it will never be boring unlike the other traditional pre-​made salad places.
The staff were helpful and guided me through the process and the meal is reasonably priced (under six quid for a standard salad).
My salad has a deli leaves base with eggs, chopped onions, mixes peppers and Jalapeños. For the deli side I chose Chorizo and Roast chicken and garnished with some corriander and finished it with classic cease dressing. The salad was super tasty and all ingredients were of top notch quality and I for one is going to be a regular.
4 stars only because of the long wait time today but it will not deter me!
PS: found out just now that they have an app and you can order your food online and it will be kept ready for you when you get there!

Ever wanted to pay £6 for half an iceberg lettuce and a handful of canned kidney beans?
I admit sometimes their salads are okay but most of the time you get to the bottom of the huge bowl they give you, and you’re just waiting for something that’s not a hunk of leaf. How about a half decent quantity of the stuff you’re so good at advertising, the beans and seeds and egg or avocado or chicken or fish or anything but lettuce? How about actually CHOPPING your salad as the name implies?
This wasn’t the worst thing in the world but really not for me. Concept over content.

Chop’d salad really bothers me. First of all, they don’t chop and toss your salad (that I could see), which to me was an expectation given the name (and similarly named/​implied stores in Hong Kong/​New York that do). Secondly, all (it seemed) of the salads are pre-​made and un-​dressed in a fridge by the checkout. I had high expectations for a salad place in Canary Wharf that would actually make a delicious fresh salad, but this didn’t mean the bill. You’re much better off at Birley Soup & Salad down at the other end, where they actually WILL make and toss your salad for a reasonable price.

I knew Chop’d and Mana at Leadenhall markets in the City, so was excited to find they have expanded to the Wharf.
Don’t try to find it based on its address — just go to Waitrose (at the underground level) then turn left. it is right below KPMG. Unlike its outlet in the city, tis one does not have tables and is strictly take-​away only. Apart from that all is as good as in the city.

Amazing Salads — whether you go for a menu standard or a made-​to measure (pick your own components) you cannot go wrong — unless you are an ignoramus who does not know how to mix a basic salad — in which case choose one of theirs Soups only OK

I was really pleasantly surprised when I discovered this new place for lnch. The salad portions are really generous and I love it when you get to pick exactly the ingredients you want — refect for a fuss-​pot like me! For a fiver you get to pick 5 ingredients to go in with your choice of lettuces, and all the food is really fresh and delicious. There is a good selection of dressings too. The other food all looks really tasty, although I have yet to try it. Big portions of soup with crunchy bread, interesting sandwiches etc. I actually prefer the branch of Chop’d in St Pancras International, but this one is good too.

A place for fresh salad lunch! I love the large selection of ingredients and the mix and match idea for choosing your salad. It is hidden just away from the main shopping area yet there are always long queues in front of this tiny shop in Canary Wharf and I am always one of them!
Quite costly for a lunch though so sometimes I try to avoid going there and get something cheaper instead.
