Hmm. Torn here. I ordered by phone rather than online, and the experience was mixed. In terms of the order itself, it took several attempts to get through. One number simply went unanswered, but the other was picked up on the third attempt. The food turned up when they said it would(45 minutes), but was missing one of the main courses(fortunately, they hadn’t charged us for it, so it was simply missed off). But it meant one of my friends who wanted seafood had to make do with a vegetarian meal. The food itself was a mixed experience: very good vegetable soup, tsing dao vegetable rolls and Szechuan vegetables. Prawn crackers were included for free. Spring rolls and a vegetable stir-fry were all right, but I have had better. Less good was the vegetarian selection in black bean sauce, which was incredibly fiery, thanks to having a lot of chilli in it, despite this not being on the menu(and not my experience of black bean sauce). I’m not sure I’d rush to repeat the experience, but it would do if all else fails.

After ordering from this place a few times now, we are gradually working out what is good(like, really good!) and what isn’t. It’s one of those places. Good: — Hot and Sour Soup — Peking Dumplings — Singapore Chow Mein — King Prawn Spring roll — Beef in Hunan sauce Not good: — Spare ribs — Tom Yum soup — Pad Thai Their online ordering service is annoying — there is a fault and it won’t let you order from certain locations which are clearly in their delivery area. So I always have to call and speak to the far-too-busy lady on the other end(I do not envy her!) And their packaging is seriously terrible — be prepared with kitchen roll to clean up what arrives! But don’t get me wrong — this is a pretty good Chinese takeaway place and we are returning customers.

So having moved to Tooting I am on the hunt for a reliable take out place to service me when I am A.) too lazy B.) too hungover to cook. Sunday night being both of those I did a little online research and found China Dragon. They are all linked up with so you can order and pay online if you like. All very convenient! So ordering online was super simple and the menu had me umming and ahhhing for quite some time. Soft shell crab, home made Tom Yum Soup, all of it sounded great. Now being in the state I was, I felt like I had to order the regulars. You can always judge a good Chinese on it’s Sweet and Sour. This was lovely, rather than a sticky sweet mess of onions it was fresh pineapple, tasty chicken and crisp peppers. Yes it was greasy, but in a good way. A very good way.
