Great quirky local bookstore. The owner(man with long white beard) is helpful and has a great sense of humour. If the book you want is not in stock he or his helpful staff will order it in for you.

Initailly I asumed that this was a second hand bookshop. The aged sign worn fixtures and ancient carpet are like nothing that you would find in a modern shop. On closer inspection however, I discovered that this was very much just a normal, fully priced bookshop. For me it does not work, aesthetically the shop just looks unkept and disorganised with a slightly odd variety of books in little categorised order. They have tried to be slightly alternative, but in my opinion this works against them rather than being an attractive quality.

Chener Books is a good local bookshop. They have a pretty good selection of books and the staff here is friendly. I came in looking for the most obscure book ever written by one of the most obscure authors ever. Of course they didn’t have it, but they provided me with pretty pertinent information that will help me on my pursuit of this title. They told me that the whole of the UK doesn’t sell this book and I’m better off flying to the States to buy it. At least my wild goose chase is over. Back to the store: it’s tiny, but its shelves are packed with mentally and emotionally compelling titles. I didn’t see any discounts in here, but like with most independent bookstores they are too hard-up to discount. So if you don’t mind paying a pound more for the same title that you would buy from Waterstone’s for less come and support this local shop. They’re awesome, and if you’re looking for a title if it’s sold in the UK they can order it for you.

This bookshop is great providing a variety of books for all. They offer great book offers and many of the books arew reasonably priced. Their promotions are great and I always find wonderful books here. The staff are friendly and proffessional. The hours of opening time is great!!! A highly recommended place to visit in lordship lane, I seen it as a kid and the bookshop still remains there. Love you chener. xx
