As a fan of the Caravan in Kings Cross, we decided to give this branch a try. The place was very loud even with only a few people in there. the acoustics are somehow amplified in this place. The menu didn’t offer a variety of choices like the other restaurant but overall it was good.

Nice place. Great location. Good service. However, the shredded duck salad I ordered came out super fast. Not a problem, except the duck in the otherwise tasty salad was dry, chewy and hardly shredded. I had to hack away at large chunks of it to make it chewable and digestible. It was quite dry. Truth be told it is my first time eating duck in London, but I lived in Paris for one year. It is possible to keep duck for duck salad from being completely dry and chewy yes? And even if not, if one orders shredded duck salad, the duck should be shredded right? Anyway, at 15 pounds for the salad I was a bit dissatisfied. Last night I ate up at Niche on Rosebery and had a cobb salad that was cheaper and way better. But maybe it’s impossible to keep duck tender for shredded duck salad, and I am in the wrong here. A nice environment for drinks nonetheless.

I’ve yet to try the food, but it has everything else going for it. It’s one of the first venues you’ll see entering Exmouth Market, but keep your eyes open as you might only see a «C» logo to let you know you’ve made it. This is a FAR more intimate venue than the Kings Cross location, and honestly I prefer the Kings Cross one because of the heightened buzz factor, but this is still a great, smart spot in the Clerkenwell area. Would love to return!

Have I not reviewed Caravan before? No? This is a travesty, truly. I love Exmouth Market(past reviews will attest) but Caravan is a special jewel in the Exmouth crown. I have never — not once — made it for food here. Which is a shame. That is both a disclaimer for this review, and also a gentle self-criticism. Pull it together, Alex! So what I can say is: Coffee is amazing. Drinks even better. Negronis even bestest. Last time I was here I had a gin and tonic glammed up with some orange and cucumber water. Yep. Also, the staff is great. Accommodating, and trying to fit you in even if you don’t, y’know…*have the foresight to make a reservation* [see Unilocal note, below]. Unilocal note: reservations recommended.

I liked the atmosphere of this place — we sat outside on the street, which was lovely. But, I found it a bit overpriced for what you got and while the service was good, despite it being busy, I just wasn’t that into it. I got a coffee with soya, which was served in an erlenmeyer flask because hipsters. Within minutes my coffee was lukewarm, but it looked cute. We decided to share the«grilled coconut bread, strawberries and lemon curd cream cheese», but for £7.50 it was a very tiny portion and quite dry. It was listed with the mains, so we were confused why it was more of a starter portion. We could’ve gotten a full English for a pound more. The coffee was good and I love Exmouth Market’s atmosphere, so I didn’t *hate* it and I’d return, but eh. I feel lukewarm about it… like my coffee.

Ended up here for dinner one night after exploring the area. This is a really cute location — located at the end of a street with a bunch of little restaurants. We ordered a few small plates to share which included the potato and onion tortilla, miso cured salmon, crispy lamb, and bread and butter. My favorite was hands down the potato and onion tortilla — really tasty. Also the bread is really good. All in all — a solid place. Good service, good food, good area.

I do love coming here for a quick snack or coffee. This is the original place it started off and I really like the vibe on a great street to wander and eat/drink.

Came here for lunch today with six of my closest friends on my trip. Seriously, I can’t believe this place is around the corner. It is seriously delicious. Small plates are where we started, as well as with a crap ton of mimosas for the table, which were delicious. Small plates for the table included(funny but not small) delicious bowls of lamb with this light cucumber mint salad, plates of smoked salmon on a light horseradish creamy cheese spread(order a side of bread to make it extra yummy) and then an order of soft shell crab that had a cucumber salad and fish sauce. I loved this place, it is a little pricey but worth it.

I came here for brunch on a Sunday morning. What a delightful brunch it was. First off, let me say the location is adorable. It’s located on a street with a whole bunch of little restaurants. It was the cutest thing I saw. The road is blocked off so you can’t drive down it. But who would want it?! Way cuter to take the stroll. I wasn’t feeling my snazziest due to a night of partying in Leicester Square the night before. I spotted the outdoor seating and decided we HAD to. We went in and were offered coffee as we sat by the coffee bar awaiting our seat. My friend, Denise C., ordered a cappuccino and I sat quietly observing how polite everyone was. The cappuccino was adorable! They made a leaf looking thing in it. So cute. When you give your name and wait to be called they give you a bag of coffee beans with a number on it. Creative and the smell of the coffee beans was a nice pick me up. We were seated at a little table out front after no more than 15 minutes. I decided on a ginger carrot turmeric drink because I hear turmeric is supposed to be really good for you. I needed SOMETHING to cure that night I had. To go along with my healthy fresh drink, i ordered the flour tortilla with eggs, beans, salsa and a side of amazingness. I’ll start with the drink. It was definitely fresh(especially since I think my waitress forgot about it and I had to ask again). They were little chunks of freshness and the slight spice to it was a real wake up. With that drink and my delicious brunch I was cured in minutes. The eggs were tasty and the bean salsa concoction they had going on was out of this world. The perfect amount of flavor to compliment the tortilla and wake up my taste buds. It was all so delicious. I typically don’t go for fresh fancy juice. I’m more of a mimosa girl with my brunch but with how I was feeling the juice was perfect and so was the food. I ran downstairs to the restroom. Its located beside the kitchen and in this cool area where I’m assuming they have for family dining style. Its a huge table. I would love to have a bunch of friends down their. The«loo» was clean and the soap had a really nice smell. As far as service, the waitress was nice as was the manager. The only thing… there was a young guy that came and sat with friends as we were dining and I don’t know if he was some sort of celebrity or if he was an employee but our waitress and a few other employees were waiting on this kid hand and foot. Our waitress didn’t really check on us that much but they were all hanging off of him. lol It was pretty weird to watch. But none the less I really enjoyed my experience here. I’ll definitely return when I’m back in the UK.

Caravan on Exmouth Market had been on my bucket list FOREVER! They always come up in lists of places to go for brunch in London, and now that I’ve tried they coffee, I can tell that they’ve really strong game indeed! I suppose I’ll have to move it up a few spots and make my way there for eggs and things some day! Also, they serve coffee with the cutest milk bottles ever! Definitely a top-spot for a bit of coffee-loving!

Very popular brunch and coffee spot, so come early on a weekend or get ready to queue. We had an absolutely delicious breakfast. Can’t recommend their corn bread highly enough!

Kind of a tight squeeze but we were seated right away and served quickly. I like this one better because of the brighter space. Nice place to start if you’re having a mooch around the street. Had the mushrooms on toast with a poached egg.

Came for brunch recently and was pleasantly surprised. We didn’t have to wait, but shortly after we arrived it filled and queues formed. I had the avocado spread on sourdough, which was much more sizable than I imagined. Added a sausage to split, and made a tasty meal. Also, coffee was remarkably good. I had a filter coffee, no milk or sugar necessary. In fact when my friends tried to order a filter coffee and milk, the waitress encouraged them to get an Americano if they wanted milk. Apparently the baristas are trying to get patrons to drink the filter coffee black. They suggested so in a very non condescending way, and it shows they care.

A very pleasant way to spend a breakfast with some very different menu options than the usual greasy spoon. It does get very busy, we had to wait a few minutes for a table to become free. Interesting options with a Mexican twist. I went for the flour tortilla with scrambled egg and refried beans. Not what I would want for breakfast every time, but it was nevertheless delicious. Toilets are downstairs where you can see the spotlessly clean open kitchen and there own coffee cooking /grinding machine. Acceptable service but watch out for them adding a hefty service charge to your bill — remember, it is optional– don’t let them bully you into tipping more than you would have anyhow!

Stopped here for a dessert and a coffee while visiting my friend. Most places around were expensive restaurants or pubs, and well we just wanted some cake and coffee =) We found some delicious desserts here and loved our deep rich lattes.

I’ve been here twice and love it! I’m obviously not alone because there’s usually a queue for brunch here at the weekends, even in heavy showers. Be prepared to take a number but know that it will be worth it once your food arrives. The restaurant itself is really nice, cool venue and lots of space for groups. I like this place because the quality of the food they serve is really high and they serve generous portions. The menu is interesting and lots of options for vegetarians, the health conscious and meat lovers. They don’t take bookings for weekend brunch but they do have a table downstairs that seats 10⁄12 so if you can fill that they’ll let you book. Enjoy!

Caravan, Caravan, Caravan… what a place. Is it *the* place? Quite possibly. The food is fantastic, as is the coffee. I used to live nearby, and this was a frequent brunch spot(although not as frequent as it could have been, due to the pricetag). Brunch aside, there is a fantastic selection of food for lunch and dinner, and there drinks menu is broad. Saying that, I have eaten here for breakfast/brunch on many more occasions than at other times. There is a rotating variety of food, but you should always be able to find something to your taste — even if it’s not quite what you were expecting before you looked at the menu. I don’t think words can really do it justice, and you should really go yourself and try. Be prepared to wait, however. Ultimately, you are unlikely to be let down if you do.

Yummy !

Let me throw a few more paprika-maple-syrup-drenched stars on Caravan… Firstly, the cornbread«french toast» with avocado, rocket and BACON? I highly recommend. Why has no one thought of this before?! Simply wonderful and achieved that super fine balance of sweet and savory in one dish that I always dream of in a breakfast. Harmony! Satisfied! I was lucky enough to arrive on a perfectly crisp and sunny brunchy morning midweek(Wednesday) so avoided any wait times(a la weekend). I was quickly seated and equipped with water and drinks while I awaited my dining companion. Service was friendly, but a bit aloof/absentminded. Drinks from the bar/barista took unusually long — but I was not in rush so it wasn’t terribly important. They do quite a bit of takeaway coffee business as well so I presume it backs up the bar. Their brunch menu is succinct, but packs a punch. Ask around and you’ll definitely hear«cornbread french toast» muttered more than once, so take the hint and try for yourself. A must in Exmouth Market. Add it to the rotation!
