This was the firstand only Nero when it started. It has become a bit of a classic since then, and despite many new coffee shops opening here of late, after the tube station area re-development, it keeps a loyal clientele. Thankfully the interior has been left alone apart from the extended table area towards the back of the narrow premises A classic floor and wall of Rosa Aroura marble, left to gently hone down, the high tables and counter along the window give this a bustly, continental feel. The real winner has always been the staff here, most stay quite a while, and they get to know their regulars, and give great and very civil service. The morning team captains especially –3 over the years come to mind, including the current one, ran the place very well. A diverse crowd visit; mostly smartly turned out; the French ex-pats abound, antique and auction people for Chrisites opposite or the museums nearby along with the South Ken folk and those working hereabouts regularly. Always light classical music to start the day, and in this high ceilinged, low lit room that completes the scene. A touch of old world classand very nice coffee.
