Hands down the best Jamaican food shop in Brixton, only let down is that they never have patties in stock but overall the food they sell is very nice

I am totally addicted to Ben’s soups, and at £2.50 a go they are probably one the most reasonable, satisfying, stomach warming lunches you can get in Brixton. Flavours vary day to day — chicken, beef, lamb or mutton and it always comes with DUMPLINGS!!! Although I pretty much always get the soup as it is the best Caribbean soup I’ve had, once or twice it’s been sold out and I have ordered a mini curry goat meal(also a recession busting £2.50) good and meaty with some tasty coleslaw. The reason I knocked off one star, and I’m being a real fussy b*tch here, is that the rice in the rice and peas was made with quick cook rice. Soups are 5 stars all the way, but rice and peas needs to be made with proper basmati to absorb all the flavours and coconut milk and get nice and fluffy. Fix the rice and peas and Bushman’s will be perfect. P.S tried the oxtail stew the other day and it was super lush.
