The service was absolutely awful! The food was ok but we had to threaten to leave the restaurant and ask for a refund to be left alone by the staff and eat peacefully. The staff told us to seat at the only tables available at the back as we were 5(they decided to close the seating upstairs). The tables were small so we took 2 tables in order to be seated not sticked to each other on a small table. The staff told us to move very rudely as they needed the other table a few times, but this was their decision to close the room upstairs, so they could have just used it if it was necessary. They all remained rude and quite impolite. Never go there!

We stopped in here after visiting the Victoria and Albert Museum. It was crowded but not too difficult to find a table. Service was immediate and friendly. They had a happy hour and I was able to get in an order with 2 minutes to spare. We ordered fish & chips and the Steak & Ale pie. Both were fantastic. The fish was crispy and the chips done just right. The pie was bready and thick and came with a side of excellent gravy. The prices were very reasonable for the West End.

Only came here for drinks. Location is great — really near Harrods and Harvey Nichols but not too close to be insanely busy. The staff are fantastic! I don’t know if this is normal but we were seated. Seated. In a pub. On a Friday night. Whaaatt!!! The bar staff were attentive and friendly also. Enjoyed some banter with them. They have a great happy hour 2−4−1 cocktail deal too if you get there before 6. Also — clientele were above average good looking. Or did I have too many double G&Ts?

Rating is based on: food. Let’s be real, location is great! It is right next to underground and Harrod’s. Service is just fine, and the décor is fine as well(really, just like any other pub). Food: Got fish n chips as the main course, toffee pudding for dessert. The batter for fish and chips was very thick, with an exterior made up of turtle shell and an interior made up of goo. It was rather gross. It is difficult to cut through the hard exterior to reach the fish, which tasted like it has been in the kitchen fridge for a week… The tarter sauce tasted like it has been sitting in a giant bowl, sealed away in their fridge, and their ‘special’ green sauce tasted like everything being mushed together… and like everything else, it tastes like it has been in the fridge for wayyyy too long… Just scroll through some pictures to see what the fish, chips, and sauce look like. The toffee pudding was the real kicker(irrelevant feeling on toffee pudding: for me, toffee pudding is one of the best things in the world. This delicious dessert is warm and soft and melts in your mouth to create a sensation that is rarely felt with other desserts. Toffee pudding gives us a break from the«regular» cakes, chocolates, and caramel by taking the best parts of various desserts and making it into the best dessert ever.). The toffee pudding was warm, but it tasted like an overbaked cake that has been drenched in sugar water(… and from the color of the square, you can tell that it has been overcooked). The caramel was too sweet that it compromised the balance of the dessert. Eating the toffee pudding here is very much like eating a really sweet chocolate bar in the states. This place is cool for drinks(much like any other pub), just not for food.

Loved this little pub which was right down the street from our flat in London, and just a short walk to Harrods department store. The service was great and the food was amazing we had steaks and fries and wine and a amazing dessert for 33 pounds. The sticky toffee pudding was actually like a warm brownie with ice cream. Highly recommend this cute little pub.

Appetizer came with a hair curled on it. Steak was overcooked and under seasoned. Staff seemed utterly disinterested in remedying the situation. I wouldn’t advise this place, as there’s bound to be better in the area.

Came in here for lunch. The female bartender seemed a bit cranky but she wasn’t necessarily rude to us, just seemed a bit annoyed by our presence. We ordered the pulled pork burger, the falafel wrap, and a few beers for lunch. Tasty but I won’t make it a point to go back.

Excellent pub in Knightsbridge, great atmosphere and full of friendly customers. The fish and chips was as excellent as everyone says! Beware: Locals do not tip at pubs. American tourists may not know this little fact, and they may be tricked into leaving a generous tip. Our food server wrote«Tip is not included» on our credit card receipt, and then said that tips can only be given in cash. I tipped 20%, about 10 pounds.

Pleasant service with better than average fish and chips. Helpful bartender who made a mistake on an order and comped us a round of beer.

I used to go to the BoG when I lived round the corner. Very nice pub. Great atmosphere. Very Christmasy feel in Dec with lots in after the shops had closed.

This pub was down the street from our hotel making it an easy destination after a long day of touring around. My mom and I both ordered the fish and chips… AWESOME. The fish was larger than the plate. It was perfectly fried and tasted incredible! The place was a bit touristy– literally next to us was a group of people with expensive cameras out on their table– so we fit right in. It looked like there were some locals there as well. Service was fast and polite too. I recdommend it if you’re in the area at Harrod’s or the museums.

Great place. Chef recommendations on board. Fish and chips were crispy and good. Steak was perfect. Chicken ham pie was also excellent. The lamb shank was cooked and tasted great. The mash potatoes were slightly dry but when added a little lamb gravy it was perfect. I recommend this place as part of London’s dining experience. The service was excellent!

Lovely interior — looks as though some actual REAL Victorian woodwork and glass remains. Comfy seating. Relaxed vibe — friendly, but not annoyingly unctuous. Cannot comment on the food. Pints are good — fresh, cold, and clean. Great place to stop for a spot of refreshment after ogling the high-end goods at Harrod’s and Harvey Nick’s.

As it is obvious the major hit here is the Fish and Chips. And that’s for a long list of reason the main one being that it’s purely delicious. The traditional meal is quite heavy and greasy being deep fried and all that. However, the guys here tend to go easy on your stomach and deliver excellent, crunchy fish and chips. The fish is quite smooth and always fresh. I have been here many times and it always hits the spot. The place is on two levels both with no real difference except maybe that the upstairs is quieter. You can go there if you wish for a longer, nicer lunch.

On a walk back from Harrods, a stop into Bunches of Grapes would be for our Fish & Chips fix. You walk in, and it’s more of the find a seat at the bar or head upstairs for a quieter meal. Downstairs the prices were better for the Fish & Chips. We ate upstairs and the service was slow to go. The fish did not disappoint. Yummy, crunchy, crispy and fresh. That was the goal. Good choice for the 1 visit for a fish & chip meal.

Came here for Fish and Chips and it did not disappoint. I was weary of trying such a touristy meal so I chose carefully and I am so glad I chose Bunch of Grapes. The fish was amazing and nothing like the make here state-side. The beer was cold and the food was hot and fresh. I agree with Josephine B. that it can be awkward when you walk in mid day and there is a bartender and server who don’t really know what American’s expect when they walk into a restaurant. Just basically find a seat and order your food and drinks from the bar.

During my first cab ride in London, I asked my taxi driver, «If I could only eat one thing while I was in London, what should it be?» His reply: «Fish and chips. And it needs to be from a pub or else you are wasting your time.» So while walking in this area, I saw Bunch of Grapes and thought, «Hey, a pub! Time to get my fish and chips on!» On the other hand, my parents wanted to go to a more formal sit down restaurant. Luckily for them, the upstairs area of the pub is a small dining room area away from the hubbub. The menu upstairs is almost completely different from the downstairs menu. Fortunately, the Fish and Chips were on both menus so I was not complaining. My order was delish. The fish had the perfect crunch and softness with every bite I took, and the fries were thickly cut and great tasting. Om nom nom! This place is a short walk from Harrod’s; it’s a great place to relax after a hefty day of shopping. My first London Fish and Chips experience was a success! 4 stars.

Where else does one grab some Fish and Chips and a brewski after a morning of marathon museuming? Bunch of Grapes is a fun little pub located just 10 minutes from V&A. As a lone traveler I was hoping for a quieter restaurant with pub-type food. Bunch of Grapes looks a little pretentious but it’s bark is worse then it’s bite. Downstairs is more casual, upstairs is more formal. Grab a beer at the bar and sit downstairs if you can. You can’t sit at the bar but the atmosphere downstairs is much more inviting. British brews on tap. Fancy food is offered but the fish and chips at 8.50(pounds) was a decent deal. The cod was fresh and perfectly fried. The fries were fat and the peas were mushy. What do you want me to say? All in all a great little place with great offerings and real actual British behind the bar. Expect a bit of a wait but enjoy your beer while you wait, remember, I told you to get in line and grab a beer right after you arrive!
