This place is nice for a romantic meal I feel as the atmosphere in the restaurant is dimly lit with candles flickering away on the tables(even though a tad dangerous when got the menu) and the décor is dark. I had duck for my main(breast and leg) and the meat fell of the bone of the leg and the breast was so tender it melted in my mouth practically. My husband had steak and fries cooked medium rare and again cooked so well and was so succulent with melting herby butter. The price was also quite reasonable for London. The restaurant is also a chain that is owned by Raymond Blanc. So hats of to him for such a great chain of restaurants serving great French food. Highly recommend to anyone to try his restaurants out.

Situated along near the BFI and Waterloo this is one of Raymond Blancs restaurants we didn’t book a table, just walked in and was seated straight away, nice décor and lighting, staff very pleasant and welcoming, if your near this restaurant whilst up London along the Southbank then I highly recommend popping in for a meal, my picture shows 9oz Rump Steak and Fries

A total disappointment! We ate at the Southbank site this past Tuesday evening for dinner. After watching 3 season of «Last Restaurant Standing», I had very high hopes and expectations for this restaurant. We came to London for vacation during my 12 year old son’s spring break, and made sure to include this on our«restaurant to do» list. I wish I had gone back for more fish and chips instead! First, the waiter brought us hard cold bread. Then he asked us if we wanted«still or sparking» water. I replied that I wanted still regular water. He brought us a bottle anyway, insinuating that this is what was served. I later saw them bring a pitcher of regular water to a table; thus he basically disregarded my initial request and for the privilege we paid 5 pounds. The cheese soufflé my son and I had for a starter was was okay, not great. My husband had crispy battered goat cheese that he thought was good. For dinner, I was served a dry, tasteless, and unseasoned piece of salmon. My husband had Beef bourguignon, the«special» of the day, which he said was«okay» but lacked any real flavor and did not have the red wine taste that it should have had. My son liked his beef stroganoff. My husand and son both had dessert(I was too disgusted by then), and thought it was the best part of what overall was a sad pathetic and very overpriced meal. If the meal wasn’t bad enough, the service was also poor; stuffy obese waiter, and a huge lag in between courses. We were left sitting at the table with no food or drinks in between two courses. When I finally brought up the pitchers of water that were clearly being taken to tables, the waiter huffed off and brought us back a pitcher; never offering to credit us for the bottle that I hadn’t wanted in the first place. I eat at top restaurants all over the world traveling for business and I have to say this was one of the biggest disappointments I have ever had from a restaurant touted as owned and run by an executive celebrity Chef.

This branch of the Brasserie Blanc chain just opened, so I took a friend from LA there yesterday, but I was disappointed. I thought it would be buzzy and the food would be really excellent, and that the place would reflect Raymond Blanc’s warmth and humour he described the Brasserie Blanc chain as the can-can to the delicate waltz of his two Michelin-starred restaurant Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons. Actually, I found it soulless and bland. The set menu that was bigged up on the website( ) was not available at that branch, which was a shame as it had a couple of good veggie choices on it and my friend is vegetarian. Instead, we chose from the a la carte: our starters were cucumber gazpacho(very good) and fried goat’s cheese parcel with green beans and tomato chutney(tasty). Mains were: dressed crab(so-so, and definitely not worth £13.50) with french fries(cold and not crisp), and pasta with walnut pistou the only veggie main course, apart from avocado and tomato salad. The wine list was extensive but with only one white under £20 many bottles seemed overpriced I just don’t feel willing to pay £26 for a bottle of very average Pinot Grigio, for example. Have just Googled Brasserie Blanc and seen that 12 new restaurants are opening this year alone it’s a real shame mediocrity seems to have slipped in.
