I had to try this restaurant when I visited England. Gordon Ramsey has a unique way of describing food and his attention to detail brought me to his restaurant to experience what a true dining experience should be versus all of his critiques. I ordered the Wagu steak and it was delicious. I was impressed with the wait staff and their attention to detail as well as the décor was soft and pleasantly lit. Since my dining experience at the Boxwood in 2009 they have closed the restaurant. But I do recommend that you seek out any of Gordon Ramsey restaurants and give it a try, I was impressed!

Situated in a basement. Service was patchy, food not up to expectations for the price, wine too expensive. Smoking at the next table was unpleasant

Luckily stumbled in the Boxfood Café without a reservation We tried to book for a reservation a month before we were to arrive at London at the Boxwood Café via the internet, we were told it was fully booked, so I didn’t even bother to bring the address or phone number to try again. After a day tour exploring London, we were dropped off at Hyde Park Corner and decided to walk to Harrods. On the way there, we came upon the Boxwood Café around 5:20pm. Wondering if it was Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant, we stumbled in just as the staff is getting ready for evening service. As my motto was«it never hurts to ask», I asked the receptionist if there was any early seating for dinner for 2. Surprisingly, she said yes as long as I returned the table to her by 7:30pm. I gladly agreed and we had a 6pm reservation. Being a Gordon Ramsay fan and after watching the episode of ‘Kitchen Nightmare in Paris’ where Gordon discovered this talented young chef and installed her at the Boxwood, I was excited and couldn’t wait for my dinner. When we walked in, the staff was professional and seated us at the small cocktail area to wait for our table, after a few minutes, we were seated at a nice corner table at the back that overlook the restaurant. The menu has too many things to choose from so I decided on the 6 course Tasting Menu after our waiter confirm that it is not too much food for one person. For £55.00, it seems extravagant on my budget but it was the best memory of my first trip to London. Following is what I had. sorry there are no pictures as I had forgotten to charge up the battery for my camera. 1. Jerusalem artichoke soup, roasted shallots and foie gras — served in a teacup; very rich and the fois gras was delicious and fresh 2. Ceviche of Irish organic salmon and Cornish crab with chilli, lime, coriander and grapefruit –refreshing and delicate; quite a large serving 3. Baby beetroot, barrel aged feta, pear and pine nut salad — I think this is the salad that India, the young chef created on the Kitchen Nightmare episode, it was a good size 4. Seared loin of yellow fin tuna with fennel, red onion, quail’s egg and black pepper sauce — coming from Vancouver, BC I have had my share of seared tuna, this was exquisite and served just slightly warm and the tuna melts in your month. 5. Red wine braised shoulder of Dedham Vale beef with curry kale, parmesan mash and black truffle — this was a big portion, the beef just melt in your mouth and the parmesan mashed was reshaped like half a potato and it was so rich and decadent with great flavor 6. Valrhona hot chocolate fondue, house made marshmallows, biscotti and fruit kebabs — this was a nice finish to a great meal; the chocolate was smooth and not overly sweet or bitter, the marshmallow was not the commercial ones you would expect, eat plain was not too sweet, with the warm chocolate, you just want to order more; the biscotti was very crisp and perfect to dip. My friend, who decided that the tasting menu was too much decided to just order from the a la carte menu. She ordered Roasted loin of suckling pig with garlic roasted potatoes and grain mustard sauce –the skin is crunching and not fatty at all, served in a roulade and it tasted succulent and moist. We also finished off 2 baskets of bread with the nice dip. The staff was attentive and not intrusive. They treated us just like all the other guests even though we looked like we just ran away from home with our jackets and packs from our day trip. Needless to say, this was a great experience.

I had a great experience while dining here with my wife a last month. The food is delicious, beautifully presented and most importantly-lives up to my exceptions! the service was good, attentive, kind and not overbearing. We liked the atmosphere, the decoration, just the whole place! It is a bit pricey, but if you are after quality, excellence and fine dining then this is the place!

I dined here way back in 2005 and I can sum my dining experiance up in one word Excellent! From sipping a drink at the bar to picking up the bill it was Excellent. Food was sublime, the pork cooked to perfection just a slight pink to the meat and a crispy slightly chewy crackling, perfectly cooked potatoes with just a hint of garlic, too good. Staff were attentive without being intrusive, if the young lady serving our table spotted a glass running low it was discretly topped up. I see the Boxwood is relocating from The Berkley shame it was a lovely venu I cant wait to go when its up and running again.

I had a really great meal at the Boxwood Café. Pretty pricey but you get what you pay for. Had the tasting menu which was really excellent and couldnt find fault. Great relaxed atmosphere for thos who like good food but aren’t so keen on super formal alternatives.

We had the most amazing meal here during our Easter weekend break. The service was excellent and friendly and very very knowledgeable about the menu. The food was the best I have eaten in London and I would highly recommend it for special occasions. I was also surprised that it was not the bill was not as high as I had expected.
