I dislike kindle or buying books on Amazon, Bookseller Crow justifies this ludite-​ism because it is a tangible and ‘real’ social space to love books.

Bookseller Crow is brilliant. You can be sure of finding what you’re looking for, and a lot more besides. The tables and displays of interesting books are always gold. Well worth a visit even if its not your local.

I love popping into this community-​focused bookshop in Crystal Palace. They have a really great selection — it’s perfect for presents and for finding something new that you would have missed in a chain bookshop.

This has to be one of the best independent bookshops in London. The owner is very knowledgable and writes a brilliant blog. The shop stocks the latest releases through to old classics, something for everyone. It is also a focal point for the local community with leaflets and noticeboard of local events.

Possibly the best independent bookshop in London. With a great children’s section (especially good for unusual picture books), and American Literature in particular, the shop has loads going for it. The owners also have impeccable taste in the music they play in store, a rarity in these high street chain times.

This is not only an excellent independent bookshop that is integral to the great atmosphere of the Crystal Palace Triangle, it’s also run by John, a fantastic blogger who writes the
