Blackheath Halls

Great place for a gig.
Nice but small bar. Local parking on meters plus Blackheath train station has parking!
Under threat of closure at present so please do support !

Excellent venue with decent bar. Good mix of events. Acoustics could be better but well worth the visit if you find a gig you like.

Anywhere that can bring the Breeders within a fifteen minute walk from my flat gets the thumbs up.
It must’ve been a couple of years ago now but I was most plussed to discover the Breeders (featuring ex-​Pixies member Kim Deal) doing the rounds on the 4AD record label tour.
The place was an ample venue and much bigger than I’d ever realised from walking past.
The stage provided plenty of space for the band to rock out and there was a generally good atmosphere going through the venue.
It lacked the darkness of many of the gigging spots in central, which in some ways slightly diminished the ambiance, but at the same time it was a welcome change.
More like this please!

Blackheath Halls is a lovely venue, I have been to see many comedy gigs here and though it is a slightly different feel to seeing comedians in a comedy club it is still nicer and more informal than seeing them at a large theatre. The only downside is that the bar is extremely busy during the interval which can be slightly maddening and the seats aren’t that comfortable. But it’s a small price to pay for an otherwise pleasant and intimate setting. The other bonus of Blackheath Halls is that it’s the only venue in the world where you’ll find a queue for the mens toilets! Oh the joy to be able to walk past a row of queuing men and go straight into the ladies for a change!

Last Christmas we were lucky enough to win tickets to a charity carol concert at these wonderful old halls. The new modernisation has made it disabled friendly so being in a wheelchair is now no problem at all. The interior is very wonderful and the acoustics are great. The shows they put on are diverse from things such as concerts to Chas and Dave. A great night out but no parking on site but you can park for free in the station after 6.3pm which is a bonus.

A very flexible venue in Blackheath provides such a range of activities and events it would tire my fingers to type them all. However, they range from stand up by the likes of Marcus Brigstock and Andy Parsons to lectures on Sibelius (no, not the music software) and from children’s education to adult language courses. The chances are you can find the performance you want to see, the course you want to do, or the show to keep your kids entertained all there (probably not all at the same time though). A two-​minute walk from the train station, taxi rank or bus stops means Blackheath Halls is easily accessible from pretty much anywhere in London.
