Best be Avoided is more like it. What a shambolic scam. I bought this ‘deal’ on Living Social (also to be avoided like the plague) which was supposed to be 50% off a 3 hours wine tasting. If I had paid £40 for to attend this s**tshow, I would be really apoplectic. Held in an upstairs room of a scummy pub in Hammersmith, the whole event consisted of being given papers copied from
describing how to taste wine while waiting ages to get a sip of some bottom shelf Tesco quality wines. At first they said you couldn’t go to the bar, but had to wait for them to bring you your choice of one of 16 wine options (they were out of the 1 rose on the list before it even started). Eventually, the moody cow server couldn’t keep up, and someone else didn’t show for work, so they asked us to start queuing at bar to select our wines. They also ran out of glasses and had no proper cleaning facility, so just rinsed and dried, handing us glasses with the last person’s lipstick on it. At a clip, we managed to get through our 8 tickets in 2 hours (the fastest we could possibly go given the total lack or organisation). Would have left sooner, but at £2.50 a sip, we already felt like we were not getting our £££ worth, and wanted to salvage something of it. Thank god for attending with good friend to help save the day. BEWARE OF THESE FRAUDS. Believe the reviews, save your cash and go shop the local store sales instead!

Second review, May ’12: My advice to anyone thinking of booking with Best be Hush is– DON’T DO IT! Read and heed the reviews below, avoid BBH like the plague and book with a reputable company. JC didn’t respond to my last post, but I finally managed to book a date for May; I was due to go today. I emailed them on Monday to ask if the venue had been confirmed yet, as they said they would confirm it within 5 days of the event. I received an auto-​reply saying I would hear back within 48 hours. I didn’t. I received an email on Thursday though, saying that further to the email they sent out on Monday (which I didn’t receive), they were unable to get a venue for 5 May, and, as the clients they had polled were not happy with the alternative venue they had offered, the event was cancelled. They went on to say that it would be now he held in June– although they were not able to confirm either a venue or a date just yet. June is no good for me, and I think it is extremely poor customer service to treat their clients like this, so I replied to the email, explained my reasons for not being able to go in June, and requested a refund. I said that I would also appreciate a reply to confirm that they had received my email. I received a reply that day saying that my email had been passed on to the owner of the company (I assume this is the elusive JC), and that she would email me with a full reply the next day. I was not in the least surprised when I did not receive any reply. I am fairly certain that I will not receive a refund either. Companies should not be able to treat their clients in such a shoddy manner– what company in its right mind would want to anyway? It says a lot about BBH that the owner doesn’t give her full name– and the emails they send don’t have a name on them either. Why the anonymity, JC? What are you afraid /​ashamed of? I am a small business owner myself, and am proud to have my name associated with my business. JC, my experience of dealing with your company over the last few months has made me think that BBH is a fly by night, del boy sort of set up. I would be happy for you to prove me wrong by replying to my email and refunding my £40. But I’m not holding my breath. By the way, I’ve only given you 1 star because giving no stars isn’t an option on this site. First review, March ’12: This is a message to JC– I have emailed your company 3 times since Friday and haven’t received any response, other than the automated ‘we will reply within 48 hours’. All I want to know is how I can book a wine tasting date for 05 or 12 May when the dates on Eventbrite only go up to April. This is a present for my friend and I’m concerned that by the time I get a response, the dates I want will no longer be available. I’m giving you a 1 star at the moment but hoping that I will eventually be able to come back and post a 5 star review on here.

I am frankly astonished that these people are still selling their vouchers on the group sites. We’ve had nothing but disappointment from them. We bought two vouchers in August from Living Social. I can only assume Living Social had so many complaints about them that this is the reason they switched to selling on Groupon.
They claim to be a Secret Society (evoking memories of The Da Vinci Code). They are not. It’s clear from the above review that they are a business that’s trying to sell you wine. But really badly.
Their web site in August was a mess and did not allow you to book your place online. Then there was no availability when we were free in September. We eventually were able to book places for October by email. A few days before the event it was cancelled.
We were then told that this type of event was not going to be held any more and we could instead book at one of their drop-​in events although the advice was to avoid dates after 21 November. Now you could book on line so we booked for Wednesday 16 November. This was cancelled a week before. We rebooked for Tuesday 15^th November. This has just been cancelled and we’ve been advised to book for the New Year.
These people are a joke. I love entrepreneurs who try to start something new but their behaviour is not how you start a business. Or even a Secret Society.

So I went to one of Best Be Hush’s wine tasting events (because I got a deal through the internet), and I really wish I hadn’t bothered. The venue was a night club (during the day) and it smelled terrible. We were told to be there by 2:00 as they were promptly starting, and by the time everyone showed up, it was nearly 2:30. Mainly because there were 100+ people at the event, which is far too many for a wine tasting event.
Most of the wines ranged from average to terrible. The wine expert was clearly talking about how the varietal of wine should taste, not how the wine actually tasted. Plus, he mentioned how people only can taste four flavors: sweet, sour, bitter, and salty. I’m no wine expert, but I even know there’s a fifth taste: umani. Clearly he isn’t keeping up to date, as umami has been known about for years now!
There was one wine that was actually good enough that we thought about purchasing it. However, we then found it online at Majestic Wine Warehouse for two pounds cheaper a bottle. We then found ALL the wines on the list on the website for cheaper than they were selling them there. I don’t need someone going to Majestic and buying wines and then having me try them and sell them to me. I can go to Majestic on my own, thank you.
Best Be Hush advertises themselves as a secret society, implying that they are going to be giving you some amazing new adventures in wine, when they really just give you average wines you can go down to the shop and buy. Best to not spend your money with Best Be Hush and try to find a group of REAL wine drinkers who are looking to show you something new.
