Be At One

I LOVE be at one. This place has always been the go to place for drinks after work with their happy hour starting at 3pm and finishing at 7pm on a Friday. If you get there even at 6:45, you will still be able to get a good amount of rounds in. They have a varied selections of drinks from cocktails with gin, all the way to cocktails with brandy etc. Pornstar martini is one of the favourites by most people, but as a warning their cocktails are lethal! Don’t get tricked into thinking because its 241 they make their drinks weak!

What has happened to this Be At One?! Bring it baaacckkk! No, dear reader, it hasn’t closed down or moved location. It has, however, undergone renovations which have changed it from a nice place to have a drink after work to disco-​infused hell hole. Please, no.
I used to come here with work colleagues a lot, it’s fairly quiet and civilised and the bar staff are lovely, taking the time to ask your name and memorise your drink order, so they don’t need to ask the next time you go up to the bar. Lovely, personal service. I would have easily given this place five stars just for that.
After boasting to a friend about this place, she insisted we come here one evening. She works in the Moorgate area, so I walked up to meet her from her office, so we could walk back down to Be At One together. Upon entering, she immediately looked disappointed, and so was I. The new layout is horrible, the music is awful pounding disco and techno and none of the friendly vibe is to be seen or felt anywhere. Needless to say, we left and haven’t gone back.
I’m not sure who decided that would be a good idea, but I’m missing my after work whisky cocktails dearly. Thanks a bunch.

This was strange — we’d been in the city for a while and everywhere else started to shut down. at 1am it started to shut down too.
quite empty for a friday night this is a clearly a bar for post work drinks. seemed to be full of people o the pull. Bizaare atmosphere — perhaps it was a one off.
There Ameretto Sourz (which is my drink of choice at a BeAtOne) ws at best OK — didn’t have the good smoothness as usual.

Their martinis are GOOOOOD. Pornstar or/​and espresso please.
I’m a through and through espresso martini kind girl– a little bit of alcohol and caffeine is just a bit magical. So this is usually the go-​to bar for work drinks/​leavers drinks as it’s got happy hour 2 for 1 drinks. Although maybe locating the bar upstairs where they have some weird narrow passage is a not the best idea they’ve had. I mean, people *cough*me*cough* will be rolling down those stairs after a few.
So the shots aren’t great, but then I do question whether buying shots on a thursday is a good idea. Not that I haven’t done it so I can’t judge really…
Solid place. Solid three stars

It’s your usual Be At One — happy hour, cocktails and ID check on the door. Except this one is über packed, has a very awkwardly arranged interior and drinks that will take an eternity to be prepared. Yes, it’s in the City, so it will be busy as hell but I’ve been to busy bars before and they didn’t make me want to write a negative review at 3 in the morning.
Anyway, go elsehwhere to spare yourself the suffering.

You see, I really like this place. In fact — it’s my favourite spot for after-​work drinks in the City. It’s neat and perfectly sized — which though means that it can get crowded during a happy hour (5−7pm) it feels nice and cozy when it’s a bit emptier afterwards.
Their happy hour is great — two same cocktails for the price of one — good to share with a friend who has got the same taste in alcohol as you. The cocktails are delicious, though I stopped drinking those and now moved to simple vodka martini (which is quite punchy here!)
Bar service is super friendly and efficient — I don’t think I waited longer than 5 minutes to be served here. Ever.
It’s not a pub, it’s a straightforward bar which you could turn to to whatever you want — after work event, catch up with friends, a date — anything really.

Review: These drinks are STRONG, but finally a non-​watered down drink. Ok — its probably not the best place to drink in terms of aesthetics, but it definitely tastes better than anywhere else around the block.

Everything about Be At One is hilariously silly, like its name, choice of music («Mickey» was playing I think before midnight) and range of lurid fruity cocktails. I actually went for the massively sophisticated Black Russian (delish) before the night disintegrated into Jaeger Bombs. And yes, it was a Tuesday. Fun!
