Ay Caramba

This is not the place to come for gourmet Mexican food. But if it’s an evening of cheap food, Mexican hats and plastic pitchers you’re after, then you’re in for a treat!
We had an absolutely hilarious night here. The setting is tacky to say the least, with cartoon-​style Mexican murals on the walls and laminated menus — perfect for those cheap-​but-​so-​sticky coktails. The staff we very good fun, and, yes, we were all forced to wear sombreros.

We (group of 10) spent a couple of hours in this fantastic little place while in London for work.
Friendly service, excellent food (I recommend the BBQ sharing platter for 2). Best place we ate in London, excellent value. Made up for a disappointing night at Searcy’s in St Pancras the night before.

I’ve passed this place a few times, and I’d always thought it looked like the sort of place you’d go for a big Mexican themed party, America-​style. There’s not much around and I really didn’t want a Pret, so I went in for a bite before a meeting.
My fears were confirmed before I sat down. 1330 on a Friday and there was a studenty birthday group all in sombreros. I didn’t — yet — see any tequila shots, but I was afeared. I didn’t have a lot of time, so I went ahead and sat down — it could be good, right?
Wrong.
There’s a fairly reasonable lunch menu. Burritos, tacos, enchiladas. I went for the tacos, crispy.
I got 4 stale taco shells, a ramequin with about a tablespoon of fairly decent salsa, another ramequin with about a tablespoon of minced onions and coriander, and a dub of limp stewed oily chicken.
Service was indifferent.
