What an unbelievable curry! The Art of Spices is a fantastic takeaway-only business, which focuses on fresh and quality ingredients, cooked with skill by a chef who has trained and worked in high end restaurants in India and for the once famous curry chain in London ‘Bombay Bicycle Club’! And now his own takeaway business in Dalston — lucky Eastenders! It is a rich, flavoursome and aromatic curry — beautiful pilau rice and breads — no grease, but lovely fresh spices that have been hand mixed that day. I will not be ordering from anywhere else. It’s true, it would be fantastic if it were a restaurant as well, i would definitely go. It makes you wonder whether the restaurant experience he has gained at Bombay Bicycle Club put him off from that kind of venture — after all, despite producing good curries, they did go bust. May be the takeaway venture is a safer bet. I wish the Art of Spices all the success, it deserves to be the ‘go to’ take out in the area.

Art of Spices is — hands down — the best Indian takeaway I’ve ever had in London. And I’ve been living here for 8 years. It *kills* me that this place isn’t a restaurant — or doesn’t publicize itself better. Once, I called them after my delivery to tell them how good their poppadoms were. I kid you not. Highlights include their King Prawn Chilli curry, which makes my eyes water(and yet I always go back for more). Prawns are huge, succulent, and the curry is flavourful and delicious. Their peshwari naan is also a winner: soft, fluffy and wonderfully coconut-y in the centre. Heaven in a baked flatbread. Orders have always arrived promptly(except for once, which I’ll forgive) and they’re always polite and helpful over the phone when ordering, so that’s a plus. I will be so sad if I ever move away from this place.

Doh, takeaway only! Had 4 or 5 more meals from them though and still excellent.
