The food is amazingly good and the quality and selection of wine is also to a high standard. I attended at midday during the work time rush however this didn’t hinder the time taken to be seated. However, despite the charming atmosphere and lovely food, the waitress wasn’t particularly friendly. Overall good value for money and great food but service a little forced!

Nice place for a quick lunch in the city. A bit jammed though, as here is little space to walk around the tables… My Pizza quattro stagioni was good, exactly how it’s supposed to be, while my colleagues’ risotto was tasty, yet slightly overcooked(i.e. not«al dente» ;), but the crab one was very well presented, that’s for sure !

Not at all impressed with this restaurant. Came here for impromptu dinner after post work drinks literally opposite. Incredibly hungry the promise pizza and rotisserie was real let down. The restaurant was fairly busy so there was no warm welcome. Ordering food and drinks was painless but the wait for was really painful. We could see the pass from our table and pizza after pizza came out but not in our direction. After 50 minutes of waiting we struggled to get someone’s attention to enquire after our food, the waitress glumly acknowledged us with a nod and went over to the manageress who didn’t look like she knew what was going on either. 10 minutes later were told our food would be 10 minutes, no apology and no explanation. When our food arrived it was just dumped on the table. Would you like parmesan with your meal, yes please we get given chilli olive oil. We requested a jug of water, which came with no glasses so we had to ask for those too. I really hate feeling like a pain but why would you bring a jug of water to a table with no glasses? The food was ok but wasn’t worth the wait and the staff seemed to be busy doing not much at all and rather clumsy, I think my chair was bumped into about 10 times. We just ate quickly and got the bill. The loos were pretty grim too. Won’t be coming back here anytime soon.

My never ending search for lunch in the Square Mile continues, my latest discovery is Appennino on Devonshire Row. This place is like Ponti’s but without the aggravation of an incomprehensible queuing system. There is a small two table eating area but most of Appennino’s trade is of the takeaway variety. £5 for a spaghetti bolognaise is an absolute bargain and exactly the right portion size for a hearty lunchtime feast.
