Alice and Astrid is a beautiful shop, typical of Notting Hill’s lean towards boutique fashion. Full of silk nighties and dressing gowns it’s not the kind of place you would visit to fill up your wardrobe but maybe you would go here to purchase a special one off piece. Be careful not to get too attached to anything here though before you check the price tag. One of Alice and Astrid’s silk dressing gowns could easily set you back £150. The shop itself is very pretty and everything is easily laid out. Although I hate this phrase I would have to describe the clothing here as ‘Boho Chic’ at its best. However, when I visited I found the staff very unhelpful and slow to pick up from my many questions that I was looking for a bit of help. A friend who knew of this shop had asked me to pick a few things up for her as Christmas presents and I wasn’t sure if I’d got her order just right. Although I kept asking about sizes and colours the girl was very reluctant to offer any more than the minimum of advise and I felt like I was pulling at teeth trying to get any information out of her. The purchases I made were beautifully wrapped and I was impressed at the time the sales assistant took to get everything looking gift worthy. If only she had spent a little more time with me earlier on I would give Alice and Astrid more stars. As it is however, I’m not sure if the quality of service always matches the quality of the clothing in here and I’ll be reluctant to make a return visit.
