Good food, terrible service — might be due to the fact that Liverpool it self just isnt as customer friendly oriented? What I noticed while I was walking the streets of Liverpool is that the vast majority of the people there are caucasian. Might be that therefore I was treated a bit differently as I was seated next to the ginger and blonde families — as I write this it sounds horribly bias I know, but I wouldn’t go back here, just felt a bit out of place. However, let the pictures speak for themselves — they kitchen is quite good at what they do

Came here for a bit of lunch. The décor and vibe in this place is great, really relaxing and the service was pleasent and attentive. Ordered a starter of chicken wings, bbq ribs and salmon fish cakes. Everything was delicious! The main was a simple club sandwich which was served in bloomer bread with garlic mayo, everything was fresh and this brunch was lovely. I would definitely recommend this place for a cheap but nice brunch.

Got the burger with only the chicken, no dressing, lettuce or anything. The salad was supposed to have 6 ingredients but we only got 3 out of them, they didn’t put the avocado or the seeds and only one cherry tomato. quite ridiculous

We had a disastrous experience there. They could not get our beer order correct, it took 40 minutes to get our food which was not very good (burned potatoes, no tomato sauce on the pizza, etc.) they did take some money off the bill to compensate but it was just not up to par.

Really great local cask ales on tap! Also, the flatbread pizzas were excellent and seemed very fresh! My husband and I loved the atmosphere of this restaurant/​pub!

We stopped to have a light lunch in a typical English pub. And we were positively surprised. The food was very good. Sure, chicken wings should be a little bit more cooked and that would be my only not positive comment. Everything else was delicious.

We had dinner plans at a highly-​regarded local pub specializing in locally-​sourced ingredients and an innovative menu. They were full, but were kind enough to recommend the Hub close by, and we trusted our source enough to take his word for it. So how did our replacement venue fare?
My partner’s beef roast was a little chewy; the gravy was flavorful and the veggies (kale, cabbage, and a carrot mash) were different but average-​to-​good on the whole. Their burgers have undeniable potential: They use fresh-​ish beef, a good brioche bun, and high-​quality bacon and cheddar; although the chips are average and the coleslaw is about 75% mayonnaise (blech!). Where my burger went particularly amiss was in the cooking; I ordered it medium rare and it came dry, grey and overcooked. The server was kind enough to take it back with apologies and bring me another. No pink whatsoever to be seen, but at least it was juicier and more palatable than the first. I was happy to see they have a nice selection of ales. The price point is average.
In sum, although the food gave us no reason to hurry back, I wouldn’t be averse to giving the Hub another try — perhaps earlier in the day when the roast is fresher, or maybe once their grill person has had a little more practice. Cautiously recommended.

I ordered the Lamb Rump with vegetables and a savory sauce with a dark ale from a Lancaster Brewery. I was very pleased with the microbrew. The Hub offerers a number of Cask Ale microbrews which vary throughout the year. The sauce was delicatable and did not over-​power the lamb which was properly cut and cooked. The menu also offers a cheeseboard which I was very tempted to sample, but just not hungry enough to embark on.
The atmosphere suits a number of different patrons. Some sections fit an intimate scene while others sectionds are more causal.
Lastly, the service was excellent. The waitstaff was attentive and very knowledgeable of the menu.
