I confess I am not really a perfume person; I own some of the nicest fragrances, and wear them too, but they were all gifts and I have never once bought a bottle myself. However, my sister is something of a perfume expert, aware of all the latest fragrances, and my boyfriend, her counterpart in the men’s fragrance department! So, The Fragrance Shop is a first stop for birthdays/chrismas/anniversary presents. They stock all the latest fragrances, in the various sizes and gifts sets and welcome testing. As a fragrance novice, I am often daunted by the prospect of finding a suitable scent, and must look it as staff are always offering help and advice. They have always advised well as the purchases have been well received and used heavily! The prices are moderate; they’re cheaper than perfume counters in department stores for example, but there are a couple of other shops nearby which offer competitive prices, I usually end up buying here though.

This nifty little shop is best for when you find a perfume or aftershave you like and you fancy getting a box set with various other smellies for around the same price as you’d normally pay for the fragrance alone. Also good for gift ideas as they do great gift sets, just don’t try to get anything around Christmas or Mothers’ Day as all the good stuff is gone. I’ve got my eye on an Escada set at the mo which is around £20 for five mini fragrances. Escada are always tricky because the blighters change their perfume every year and have seasonal stuff, so it’s really hard to get the same perfume twice. But that’s just me and my perfume preferences(ideal for summer — nice and fruity!) If the cheaper prices weren’t enough to lure you in, there’s also a loyalty scheme where, if you’re a member, you get even more offers such as buy one get one free, three for two and discount vouchers. You’ll be smelling of roses all year round!
