St Anne’s C Of E Church

The church was built in 1836 – 37 to a design by Cunningham & Holme to provide Christian worship for the occupants of the large houses recently built in the area, and for those who worked there and on local farms. As population increased, so did the size of the church, with additions to the fabric in 1853 and 1913. The church still stands proud and looks very impressive. There are Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday services. Tuesday is the drop in session and Wednesday is Holy Communion. Sunday is a busier day with Holy Communion starting at 8am (not sure I would make that time!) and Family Communion at the later time of 10.15am. The children’s and young group takes place at 10.15am also. There is plenty of room for parking, a regular choir, beautiful stained glass, and a organ that certainly pumps out the music.
