Forget the home-made bread, rolls, pies, pastries, tarts and scones, there’s one thing Satteerthwaites is legendary for and that’s their gorgeous Bavarian Slices. We’re talking two layers of crispy, flaky, buttery puff pastry filled with creamy, vanilla-infused custard. To add to the irresistible taste, the bottom layer of pastry has raspberry jam spread on it and the top layer is covered in a thin coating of sweet icing. Trust me: one bite and you’ll be hooked.

mmmmmmmmmm! For me Satterthwaites is synonymous with deliciousness. As soon as you walk in the delicious mouth watering smells hit you. This place is just heaven. They sell an excellent range of foods such as cakes, pies, sausage rolls, pasties, sandwiches, wraps and baguettes. Everything is freshly made and delicious and I have never been less than delighted with my purchases from Satterthwaites. The prices are excellent, as a previous reviewer said starting from £1.99 for a basic meal deal. The staff are dressed in old fashioned uniforms with hairnets, and use gloves when preparing your order. They are very friendly and chatty and make you feel very welcome.

Fresh Bread, filled rolls, pies, pasties, cakes, cream buns, sausage rolls, meal deals… need I go on? More reasons this place is amazing: Satterthwaites is a dream in term of snacks. Staff are friendly and remember your regular(mine’s an iced bun). Meal deals start at £1.99, what a bargain. The shop smells delicious. They do great cakes in the shape of castles. Not haute-cuisine, but I’m a fan.

Opened just a few months ago this store is evidence of the burgeoning empire of the legendary Satterthwaites. Satterthwaites was founded one hundred years ago in Liverpool, it has remained a Liverpool based store but popularity has encouraged growth in the area and I think there are around six further stores, four in the Crosby/Waterloo area. Satterthwaites are extremely popular in the area and well known amongst non-locals too! The food is extremely good, and of course the type of food sold– stodgy savouries: pies; pasties; sausage rolls, and cakes– is irresitable and undeniably popular generally, however I think the popularity of this store is through the unmistakeable element of tradition Satterthwaites has managed to preserve; the cakes are classics: bavarian slices, carrot cakes, meringues, while the old fashioned uniforms are unique to Satterthwaites: hair nets and hats are worn as well as gloves which is nice to see. The staff are always very sociable and friendly and the food is really satisfying: tasty, filling, and reasonably priced. Satterthwaites offer catering services also: finger buffets, cake selections and even fruit platters. This is a popular caterers in the area hired for weddings and all sorts of parties.
