You’ll find delicious food and wine at Salt House Tapas. I’m always a fan of tapas menus anyway as there are often quite a few Vegetarian options, as was the case with this restaurant. The fried potatoes with bravas sauce are especially yummy. Salt House Tapas also have an extensive and reasonably priced wine list and the Rose Wine Sangria is gorgeous. I also love their stemless, tumbler style wine glasses which are a lovely touch. All in all a beautiful restaurant, serving delicious food which is definitely worth a visit if you’re in Liverpool.

Delicious tapas and attentive service in a great location in Liverpool. Phil and I ordered four dishes:(1) Sticky lamb shoulder, whipped feta, peas and shoots;(2) Char grilled fillet steak with polenta chips, wild mushrooms and tarragon;(3) Heritage radish salad with hummus;(4) roasted cauliflower, pomegranate yoghurt and dukkah. The radish salad came out first and I really loved the combination of crispy radish dipped in hummus. It was a cool and refreshing salad. After that, our grilled steak with polenta chips arrived. The steak was tender and juicy, but I’ve had much better polenta. I don’t think one can go wrong with polenta, but I had the sense that these were not made fresh but rather purchased frozen and fried. The wild mushrooms were both lovely and earthy in flavour. The lamb shoulder was tender and delicious. The roasted cauliflower combined with the yoghurt and pomegranate made for a nice contrast. I would have preferred the cauliflower pieces to be cut into more manageable pieces so that they would have roasted more evenly, but it certainly was tasty. For desert we ordered the Claremont farm strawberries, basil mascarpone, honeycomb and dark chocolate. When it arrived, it was covered in some kind of graham cracker crumb. Since we had not read that on the menu, we asked the manager(concerned about any wheat in the cracker crumb since Phil is allergic). Before we could finish our sentence she apologized and said she would bring us another plate and that it had been incorrectly made. She said they had a new chef and he had made a mistake. She returned with the desert and it was lovely. The strawberries were so much sweeter than they are in California. The only complaint I have is that the grated chocolate on the top of the desert did not taste like dark chocolate, but rather milk chocolate. I may be wrong, but it did not give the contrast that I expected with the sweet strawberries. As far as service is concerned, it was an A+. I think our server was named Rick, but I am not entirely positive. He was very attentive and personable. The manager was also attentive and quick to remedy the problem with the desert. The only drawback was that we sat outside near the corner and were accosted by not one, but two men asking for spare change. Sitting outside was nice, but I would suggest not sitting so close to the foot traffic in such a busy location.

The first time I visited the Salt House Tapas in Liverpool it was about a year ago with Dad. We had the tasty lunch menu and a glass of wine, and when we told Mum she was super jealous. Therefore it seemed natural to take her there this weekend for her Birthday /Mother’s Day celebrations. Having booked in advance for a pre-theatre shindig we were able to dine from the lunch menu which is a tasty price of £10.90ish for 3 plates of tapas and some bread and oil mmm. With the four of us there, we picked 12 dishes including jamon croquettes, a charcuterie board, chorizo, belly pork and more. The plates arrive as they are made freshly, which some people don’t like, however personally for tapas I think it’s great as those small dishes are quite filling and it spreads your meal out over a really nice amount of time! I really like the atmosphere here, the food is tasty and especially for the lunch menu it is very reasonably priced. The waitress was very helpful, however the loos are far away down a cold and confusing corridor — of course there’s worse things that could happen at a restaurant. If you’re out in Liverpool and fancy something quick, tasty and easy to eat I would definitely recommend the Salt House Tapas.

Had a great meal here on a Sunday night with lovely, friendly service. Definitely book up, as the place gets busy! My mom and I shared a carafe of sangria which was delicious and sweet but slightly less boozy than anticipated. Between four of us, we split an absolute load of dishes! I loved the charcuterie plate with serrano ham, shaved pork loin, chorizo, and salchichon served with bread and olive oil — they don’t give you nearly enough bread, so ask for more right off the bat! All of the meats were just delicious, it’s hard not to fill up on them. The olives were very nice, and the spicy toasted broad beans are truly toasted — like crispy little snacks, not chewy beans! Fun and different, but could be missed. What you can’t miss is the Braised Salt Beef — I think that was everyone’s favorite dish. Just impossibly tender meat, and I loved the the truffle mash underneath. The sautéed chorizo in honey was also amazing, sweet and spicy. The mussels are different every day, ours had fennel and chili and were delicious. I can’t remember what else we had! I remember the avocado/butternut salad was skippable, don’t waste your stomach space on veggies here. Oh, except the cauliflower cheese — it was so gooey and decadent, like macaroni and cheese without the pasta! I’m sure we got something else but alas, I can’t remember it now. But my fiancé and I split the churros for dessert, as they’re hard to find here, and I’m so glad we did. Hot and crispy cinnamon sugar dough dipped in rich, dark chocolate. Fab! Would return here anytime, it was a great experience!

It was my first visit to Liverpool, and we’d only had 2 days there, and had spent the previous evening being brutalised by the incredibly cheap drinks on offer(we’re from London, so it was a massive novelty being able to buy a round for a tenner). Anyway, due to a stonking hangover, I hadn’t managed to eat much of my full English in the morning and had spent a considerable amount of time trying to work out what I could realistically manage for lunch when we stumbled across tapas. Small plates, a variety of options– perfect! The restaurant was rammed and we were lucky to be seated fairly promptly, which we took to be a good sign, as hopefully it was popular because they’re good at their job. It was and they are. Food comes out as it’s ready, which means everything is freshly made for you and I think it’s a great way to serve food. It’s like getting a new present every couple of minutes. It isn’t the cheapest tapas I’ve ever had, but the plates are pretty substantial and 5 plates between 2 usually greedy people was more than enough, and I wish the special of Hake in Tomato, Caper and Anchovy sauce had come out earlier, because it was blooming delicious and it seemed criminal to send the plate back with morsels on it just because I was too full to finish it. I also highly recommend the salt beef with mustard mash. It was perfect. They also have a pretty well stocked bar and the staff are extremely chipper despite being incredibly busy and having to squeeze their way through tiny pathways of loud, munching customers. I think this is the best Tapas I have ever had and wish there was one comparable closer to home. Eat here.

I was so pleased we came across Salt House Tapas the other weekend — after wondering around the docks and being faced with pub lunches, pub lunches and more pub lunches, we didn’t really know what to do with ourselves. Knowing we had to be ready to eat well that evening at 60 Hope Street, we didn’t want anything too filling, and Salt House Tapas gave us the perfect meal. We were seated straight away and presented with our menus, offering sourdough and 3 plates of tapas for £10.95, which was just what we needed. The menu, although not vast, was very tempting and we couldn’t wait to get stuck in. Pan roasted peppers, belly pork, cauliflower and chickpea tagine, chicken and chorizo skewers on flatbread, and ham croquettes. Yum. Everything comes as and when it’s ready, meaning you always have that excitement related to your meal coming. My stand outs were the skewers, where the chicken had remained moist and the chorizo had none of the annoying chewiness usually associated with it, and the peppers, which weren’t what I was expecting(in a good way!) It did take a while for the bill to come and plates to be cleared, hence the 4 stars. The tables also felt a little bit close together, which I think could be improved, considering the size of the place. Overall, a memorable experience and one I would be completely willing to revisit!

It was a long, lazy lunch in Liverpool, lovies. Sunday afternoon of a Bank Holiday Weekend. The sun is shining to the point where people don’t understand it anymore. The kind of bright sun that makes even the darkest of buildings appear freshly painted… that kind of sun. It was glorious — and thus, my husband was sun burned and we had 3 hours to kill before our train back to London, so we opted for a leisurely lunch at Salt House Tapas. Typically, aforementioned red-faced partner is very anti-tapas(small portions of regular food, at regular prices he says)…but something about the way Salt House looked made me want to give it a try. And — I have to agree with him on this one, the food was just so-so and not priced to match quality, presentation or panache. Let’s start with the good: DRINKS& olives & almonds. The cocktails we enjoyed were quite lovely. I basked in a bloody mary then moved to an elderflower fizz(both under 6 quid) and quite enjoyed the infamous olives(of which you can buy tins«to take away» as it were), the almonds also very nice. Then things sort of devolved. We did the«Pick 3» menu for roughly 11 quid each… and had an array of dishes. Jamon croquettas, lentil/pea salad with yogurt, chicken/lamb skewers, charcuteria, etc etc. I will say, it is the saddest looking little charcuteria board I ever did see. Protip Salt House, get smaller boards or bigger meats, otherwise ish just looks skimpy. The rest of the dishes were pretty so/so. The jamon croquettas being the standout, but fried ham, hello? When does this not stand out? Ahem. Our service was pretty good — as it was a busy afternoon with the first sunny weekend maybe ever in Liverpool. No complaints there. The interior is quite nice, stylish in a rustic way, very comfortable and a nice spot right near all the shopping and within easy distance of Lime Street Station. AOK, indeed. AOK.

Located in the Liverpool One shopping district of Liverpool. Friendly and helpful staff. The only issue I had with this establishment is that the tables are pretty close to each other. However it was a good excuse to have a bit of banter with the people sitting near my party. They have a good selection of wines and the Estrella on tap is always a winner. The food is very good– particular favorites are the sizzling cooked prawns and the roasted hake fillet. If your after a tasty tapas in Liverpool then this is your place.

I’ve only eaten in this restaurant a couple of times but have yet to be disappointed. The layout of the dinning area itself is quirky and cosy but small enough to generate a real buzz about the place without feeling crowded. The menu is simple yet brilliant, with enough choices to suit your taste buds but not enough to appear overwhelming. The food was delivered as it was ready and each dish was a taste sensation. The only slight down side was the size of the puddings but I suppose that was only because I could of eaten another portion of the rhubarb crème brûlée. A really great place to go out and eat in the heart of Liverpool.

Judging by the number of Tapas establishments cropping up in Liverpool, people seem to be keen about giving Spanish cuisine a try and the well located Salt House Tapas on the edge of the Liverpool One shopping centre is testament to this popularity. Unfortunately, it appears that this eatery might be a poorer relation to restaurants such as La Vina, Tapas Tapas or even the well-known national chain of La Tasca, which do offer better value in my opinion. Firstly, the sangria, while delicious, is served in an awkward glass jug that leads to inevitable spillage somehow. Secondly, the food is served when it is ready rather than at different times like a starter and main at the diner’s behest. So, if like many people you’re keen to sample some bread and olives to begin, you’ll need to be quick as there is a good chance that you’ll leave a dish going cold. Which may be to some people’s taste but I’d wager not to everyone’s. I think it would only be fair to point out that this does not make it a bad restaurant per se. Indeed, the service is very good and the waiters and waitresses will go out of their way to make your experience as good as it can be. Furthermore, the menu arguably has more to offer than the latest La Vina menu, but that smaller isn’t lacking in quality and there are numerous offers that Salt House Tapas doesn’t appear to provide. Although this review seems to be a bad one, it feels like this eatery is well worth giving a second chance and I’m happy to be proved wrong. Watch this space!

My first night in Liverpool and I’m hungry and not willing to walk too far under threatening skies, so I walk up here and look at the menu. Ummm, jamon… and I’m inside and seated and greeted by my server and menued. Wonderful bunch of small plates, and some interesting large plates. Now I’ll admit, much more fun with others to share but one can order for ones self and have a great meal, which is what I did. Get the ham, the pricey one, it’s so worth it. And ask your server about which wine with which food as you’ll get some great advice and a very nice glass of something. Enjoy!

Not the greatest tapas in the world, but you could do worse. My partner and I started with the Serrano ham with Manchego shavings: good quality ham, decent Manchego. The sauteed chicken was also just okay — the sauce was full of flavor, but the chicken itself not very well incorporated with the sauce and rather bland. The baby back ribs were also disappointing: overcooked and dry. We also ordered the tomato salad, patatas bravas and tomato toast, all of which were good, but nothing extraordinary. The servers, though congenial, were a bit disorganized. It didn’t seem that there was much communication between the servers, because a few minutes after one server had already taken our order, another one would come and ask if we were ready to order. Maybe we went on an off night — both service and food seemed just perfunctory: just okay, but without a lot of the stronger flavors or even passion evocative of Spanish cooking. Clock in, clock out.
