Puzzle Bar

Unlike other homotspots (I’m waiting for the Oxford dictionary to approve that word), the Puzzle Bar is friendlier and somewhat more subdued. For cretins like me this is an appealing factor since most of the time I just want to sit with a pint, not dance with seven burly go-​go transvestites.
With its delightfully shoddy puzzle-​piece-​shaped tables and colourful interior, it makes for a relaxing spot to drink and chat, well it would do if you didn’t have to get buzzed through to use the toilets. Do they think you’ll steal the toilet seats or something?

Hailed as one of Liverpool’s friendliest gay bars and situated directly in the heart of the city’s gay quarter known affectionately as ‘the fruit loop’ and owned by two long established characters from the scene, the low prices are what keep punters coming back as well as the welcoming, warm and friendly atmosphere. It’s inclusive, it’s fun and it comes off as wholly genuine.
There isn’t a happy hour but a happy THREE hours, peak times as well from 5pm to 8pm every single night, so anyone heading over from work will be a very pleased bunny. On Mondays they offer a chill out evening with relaxed music to recuperate from the weekend or indeed cope with the fact that the working week has begun again. Tuesdays and Wednesdays are your archetypal club nights and Thursday is a student cheapskate night, and you get a free shot with your drink if you show your student ID. Friday is a gloriously cheesy karaōke night and Saturday offers classic hits mixed with contemporary tunes, while Sunday is the quiz night.
It’s got a really local feel to it and offers the ambience of both a friendly bar as well as a club. Definitely worth a stop if you’re doing a gay scene crawl.
