I’d make this place my local right now, were it not for criteria thus; 1) I’m not Alan Sugar(I’ve checked) but surely installing a pub in the arse-end of nowhere, in an area more famed for it’s illict homosexuality then Pub Prowess™, and you’ve not exactly found a business goldmine? The lingering smell of various dock-based chemicals and the constant threat of accosting by one of those dogging-types are not qualities I look for in a pub, either. Not since«The Incident», anyway… 2) Run by the Harvester company, this place is exactly the same as a) any other Harvester pub you may have had the misfortune to find yourself in and b) every other chain pub that isn’t a Harvester. It really is so insipid that a sore thumb would stand out. 3) You can buy a glass of Coke for £2.09 and recieve free refills for the rest of the night! I didn’t buy Coke, so having to pay for the barman to refill my glass of Guiness was very, very annoying. Harvest that.

The otters pool is ideally placed, being opposite otterspool prom which is great for a bracing walk along the sea front. The pub itself has plenty of parking and is clean and bright, typical pub grub and as it’s a brewer’s fayre you get to use your nectar points here. It has a varied menu with some decent specials, the usual scampi and chips, lasagne etc. For families there are highchairs, kids menus etc. There is a small indoor play area. it used to be much bigger, but a lot of the pubs seem to have scaled down these soft play areas. there is also a small outdoor play area but there is a better one just over the road on the prom.
