Minsky’s is a quality hair salon situated on Bold Street. What appeals to me most about the hairdressers is their savvy student offer. They offer a set price of £20 for those who choose to be styled by a trainee(who is supervised). A good option for those on a budget! Minsky’s also offer all the top-quality hair brands, such as GHD, Keratin and Fudge(amongst others). Enticed inside by this, the salon has a nice aesthetic and a relaxing ambiance. If you aren’t going for a student cut then prices are fairly average. However, Minsky’s also do some great charity initiatives, as well as catering for all local barnet needs!

Yes, I’m a cheapskate. Yes, I go to hairdressers when they advertise cheap cuts if you let a trainee loose on your head. I’m pretty sure they used to do trainee cuts for £10 at Minsky’s, but the price has gone up since then to £20. So yes, I used to go and get my hair cut for £10. Look, if you’re a guy that’s the most you’re probably ever likely to pay, so shut up. Girls pay in excess of £100 depending where they go and what they have done. Despite being a trainee and having to have her supervisor stand over her almost all the time, the girl who cut my hair was adequate without all the brashness you sometimes get from cocky hairdressers. In fact, generally the staff are reasonably friendly here — I’m sure they waited until I had left to call me a cheapskate, rather than do it while my head was under the blowdrier. Apart from the trainee deal, the prices aren’t amazing — a cut and finish starts from £33.50 and goes to around £50. They charge me £20 for that in my hairdressers, regardless of who cuts it. They are one of the few approved stockists of a range of GHD stuff, as well as all the usual products that you know you can get cheaper at Boots. A nice place to treat yourself without blowing the bank.
