Mathew Street

This street has various pubs and restaurants on it, in addition to the odd puddle of vomit.
Lots Beatles exploitation, too.

I don’t think it’s a baseless estimation on my part to think, with firm certainty, that the Beatles would not be drawn to modern day Mathew Street, in the same way that Bram Stoker would not be a massive fan of the Twilight novels. The place reeks naffness.
The traditional pubs the actual Merseybeat bands visited between gigs are the few redeeming corners but they were long ago overshadowed by a flock of noisy, tasteless alcoholes. These are the kinds of scum-​shacks that pulse with unashamed braggadocio, as if they deserve to be there because they play Please Please Me at forty thousand decibels.
If new to Liverpool, I suppose you have to visit this place sooner or later but don’t say I didn’t warn you. If you like it though, bear this in mind, we will no longer be friends. Oh yes, that’s right! Let’s see where your allegiances lie!

As the location of the Cavern Club this street has global fame. Found in the Cavern Quarter, this bustling street is popular with locals and tourists alike. After visiting the club, you can sit with John Lennon and hum those nostalgic tunes as you view the «wall of fame». If you, like me, are not a Beatles fan (yes, I’m a Scouser) Mathew offers a lot more, both day and night. You can visit Cavern Walks Designer Shopping Centre and treat yourself in Cricket, Drome or Vivienne Westwood, go for lunch at Mathew Street Gallery, Flanagan’s Apple, Hard Day’s NIght or Lennon’s Bar (okay, slightly Beatle’s related. but you’re just going to have to embrace it). Mathew Street is great for a bar crawl as pubs and clubs are clustered and easily navigable by night and under the influence. Flares is great; it’s 60’s and 70’s theme with a brilliant atmosphere, The Rubber Soul (70’s and 80’s) again, is a really lively venue with laid back punters and cheap drinks. If you fancy live music, local bands perform weekly in the infamous basements of The Cavern.

The World Famous Matthew Street home to the Cavern Club, the Beatles Shop, the New Hard Days Night hotel, the statue of John Lennon and the famous wall which has a sculpture titled Four Lads Who Shook the World as a tribute to the beatles.
Apart from the Beatles memorabilia is is also home to lots of lively Bars and Clubs and the Cavern Quarter a Designer Shopping Mall.
Obviously with its rich Beatles History this street is firmly on the Touris map but many people will also associate this street as the place to go on a night out because of its huge variety of bars and Clubs which spill out onto the streets every weekend.
It is also host to the annual Matthew Street Festival a free outdoor music festival with attracts visitors from all over the world along with lots of beatles tribute bands. the festival is usually held over a 4 day period in August at different locations within the city centre but focussed on this famous street.
