I’ve been going to Yoga classes there for years, for a couple of years. PLUS: the teachers are without exception great. You may need to try out several teachers though(of course) to find the one that suits you the most in style and temperament. All teachers and classes are very approachable and what counts is your experience not how flexible you are. Come to Yoga and see. You might become stronger, calmer, more flexible, may find your immune system strengthened, may make a friend or few. The prices at this Yoga centre are so low, while the quality in my experience has been fantastic. Beginners or advances, old or young, I promise here you will find a teacher and a class to meet your needs and more. Parking: on the street $ 0.70 per 30 minutes or try the car park at the Anglican Cathedral which is reasonably priced and there’s no worry of overstaying then. Changing room facilities: barely. There is one toilet on the upper level and it can be tricky to get changed when there is a full class. BUT it tends to work out somehow. number of Yoga studios: 2 Yoga Mats: are provided, but you could always buy your own from yogamatters( ) or actually from me(I have traditional indian cotton mats and beautiful mat bags — getting a men’s range of those soon, too.) Consider getting an ecological solution. the plastic mats can emit toxins and if you are thinking of improving your health and wellbeing and detoxing then it makes sense to consider something more natural to practice on. Also a natural mat(depending on your choice) will decompose and not clutter up the landfill sites nor float as plastic in the sea.

This place is absolutely great; it’s a fantastic place to attend a number of different Yoga, Pilates and Tai Chi classes in a relaxed environment in the heart of the city. Set just aside from the magnificent Georgian Quarter, the Wellbeing Centre is the number one place to de-stress and escape from the hustle and bustle of the city centre. I remember attending a 90 minute beginners Yoga class when Liverpool iced over in February. My shoulders and neck were sore from being at a computer all day and I was cold to the bone. I paid my five pounds, attended a fantastic class and fell flat out asleep at the relaxation period towards the end of the session. I woke up feeling warm, de-stressed and relieved. I’ve since been back for four or five sessions and would recommend everyone to give the Wellbeing and Yoga Centre a try!

After realising I could barely touch my toes I got into Yoga and one of the first classes I tried was at Liverpool Wellbeing and Yoga Centre. Starting a new class can make you feel like you’re starting your first day at school again but not here. Set on Hope Street, you feel at ease straight away as you climb the stairs of a gorgeous townhouse. Whilst doing the sun salutation you can be in awe at the traditional decoration of the room, it’s beautiful! The teachers offer a range of classes from Beginners in classical Yoga to T’ai chi for all, with some classes focusing on relaxation and others on improving strength. If you want a one off class it’s £5.50 but you can get a set of lessons with the same teacher for £35/£30 with concessions so I’d suggest booking yourself in and rediscovering your inner balance. Give it a try!

Nestled amongst a group of typically gorgeous Georgian townhouses(damn you Liverpool and your fine architecture at every turn!) is a Wellbeing Centre. Even the name gives you that warm fuzzy feeling, meaning it’s already working before you’ve stepped inside. Here you’ll find all manner of alternative therapy and yogic exercise to get your teeth into. The Wellbeing Centre itself provides all kinds of massage including Indian Head and Swedish as well as homeopathy and aromatherapy, chiropody and podiatry, lymphatic drainage, hot stone therapy, osteopathy, reflexology and even nutritional advice and life coaching to name but a few. Meanwhile the Yoga Centre, which overlooks a pretty and peaceful garden, consistently holds classes via a weekly timetable and offers gentle and friendly introductions into the exercise, as well as a balanced, welcoming attitude. If you’re looking to get away from it all and de-stress in the city centre, look no further than here.
