Lets Eat can seem pretty expensive for a café, at least at first glance — £7−8 plus for some of the main meals isn’t what you’ll find in many cafes across Liverpool. But you won’t find many joints like Lets Eat. Nicely decorated(is the work adorning the walls from local artists?), the food is great: even when you just order bacon on toast, the bacon is thick and the bread is thicker. And the presentation is always spot on, so the chefs must be properly trained. It can get quite busy, especially of a weekend, but that’s testimony to its quality. My favourite thing about this place is the Vienna, a bitter(ish) coffee topped with cinnamon — apparently it’s not a best seller, one of the waitresses tells me, but it’s always on the menu. You don’t have to be a coffee fan to enjoy the pleasures of Lets Eat. It’s a great to spot to relax, read a paper or book, or simply watch the world go by. The ambience is fantastic, but beware, once you take your seat, it’s far too easy to wile away the hours.

Let’s Eat is now officially one of my favourite coffee shops in Liverpool. And what is reasoning behind this I hear you say? For no reason other than the staff. What service! Either I looked rather lonesome and like I needed cheering up or it was just my lucky day. After ordering and drinking half of my small foamy cappuccino the waiter proceded to take my cup and switch it with an extra frothy extra delectible large cappuccino with a cheeky glint in his eye claiming it was his best yet and asked my opinion. It was lovely here, with all sorts of dishes on offer; pastas, omelettes, sandwiches, humble toasties and milkshakes on the menu, which were all quite reasonably priced. In the pleasant surroundings with a cosy number of tables were seated locals who talked freely between themselves and made me feel really welcome, this is a true village café with style and charm. Not forgetting their coffee-making finesse and perfectionist tendencies!

Lets Eat was shortlisted as one of the North West’s best coffee shops by the Guardian –shame it didn’t win though. It’s a great little bistro in Woolton Village which serves fresh homecooked food at a great price. It’s a nice place to chill out, grab a coffee and watch the world go by. Lets Eat is usually full of locals on their lunch break or dropping in whilst shopping around the quaint Woolton Village, but that doesn’t mean you’re not welcome. The staff are really friendly and welcoming to anyone. A fab place to stop for a drink or a quick lunch.
