Student friendly prices, a wide selection of drinks & DJs every night. Fads come and go, La’go will always be around doing the simple things best. Come join the party!
Not bad at all. I’ve only been on a Monday(very late) night but I had a decent pint(or 4) for a decent price and some decent music that even managed to encompass my «wide range of experience»(read: even though I am knocking on a bit: P) Not a world beater by any means but you’d do a lot worse. Bet the ale ain’t cheap come Saturday night though. :P

La’Go is the drinking experience stripped down to its bare minimum. Dancefloor, bar and toilets… come on, that’s all you need. Oh okay, there’s a few seats too. Every other possible distraction has been pruned away to make space for the sweet, soul rhythms of the sixties. Arriving early on a night out will not only get you seats, but front row tickets to the nightly showing of ‘The First Dancers of the Night’. Invariably men, these champions of idiocy know they are testosterone-fuelled silverbacks who can make any girl’s heart melt with their moves. They don’t need to be told. The dancefloor fills in minutes so be quick if you want to tie your shoelace or perform some impromptu yoga. Once half of town descend on this place you won’t have much to do afterwards but shake your stuff. This is a great bar to visit during Christmas, when the jangly, nostalgic tunes of bands with names like the Shirelles or the Ronettes or the Vandellas or the Shangri-Las make everything seem like an old film. Try and become a fan of queues as well when you visit here, whether you want to come in or go the toilet you’ll be seeing plenty of ‘em.

LaGo used to be a regular haunt of mine for a few drinks after work. It is situated in the city centre, close to Bold Street, and not too far from several call centres and offices. I found it a good place for a work night out as even though its not a big place, there are very few seats and a lot of standing room, allowing big groups to gather. The interior is a bit plain, in some places even a bit shabby. It is mainly decorated in greens and blues and looks a bit more like a swimming pool than a bar. The bar staff are friendly and helpful and are happy to advise what offers they have on, or suggest a drink or shot for you. They serve you quickly, even when you order a large round of drinks, and some of the staff are even able to remember the last drinks you ordered in your round.

La’Go a go-go. Love this place. I came here for the first time on a Wednesday after exams were over and it was packed out to the rafters. The 60s music, akin to Heebies but is a damn sight cheaper! Hurrah for dirt cheap bottles and doubles! I had a fab night with the drinks flowing and the feelgood atmosphere, I’ll most certainly be returning. Great for a dance with a group of mates, and the crushing effect of the volume of people crammed in there only serves to bring everyone closer together, just keep and eye on your drinks unless you want your outfit to be a deeper shade of pale and expect the queue at the bar to be six-deep!

As the name of this bar always feels to me like a demand from a particularly Scouse guy to get myself down here(«La — go La’Go») it always brings a smile to my face when it is suggested by my friends as the location of a drink or five. La’Go is the home of reasonably priced bottled beers, deadly black sambuca and some of the best funk and soul tunes to be found outside… well, at least Heebie Jeebies across the road anyway. On a Friday and a Saturday night it can get absolutely packed in here though so don’t be surprised if you find yourself unable to lift your drink to your mouth, let alone shake your hips to the sounds of Curtis Mayfield. A quick tip — this goes for any bar, but particularly applies here — even if it it’s very busy, don’t wave your cash at the bar staff, it won’t get you served any quicker. They don’t get to keep the money themselves once you give them it so it’s not much of an incentive for them. I saw one poor guy waving a £20 note at the bar here for almost half an hour before anyone looked in his direction.

You wont beleive how busy this place can get and with the cheap drinks and heavy influence of Northern soul tunes it’s easy to see why. La’Go used to be the sole preserve of students and those with a keen ear for 60s rarities and psychedlia. The crowd has broadened somewhat now and the music has followed suit. That’s not to say that La’Go doesn’t have its moments but it just depends on how you feel waiting in a gradually narky queue at a hectic bar only to push your way back to your mates and find most of your drink down your arm? Sunday nights are probably the best time to come, the music can be slightly cheesier — but not annoyingly so — and the crowds less manic until you reach the early hours

Here you’ll find students aplenty, but dotted rather evenly with office workers too. The cheap beer prices really do attract the crowds, as does the fitting 60s soul music. Understandably it gets rather packed out at weekends, but this shouldn’t worry you because the bar stretches almost the entire length of the place which means you stand a good chance of getting served. Weekday evenings are particularly pleasant as it’s a bit calmer and a good place to sit and chill, drinking and chewing the fat with friends. Cheap and cheerful is the order of the day. Sometimes it can get a little too much, especially on Sunday nights when they play rock tunes and a little cheesy pop for good measure. But elbow your way through and get involved because it’d be a fun night with mates, and something you should do at least once.

LaGo is a nice small bar but sometimes that can be a bit too small! Everytime I go there I end up with drinks all over me and toes trodden on hehe. Good atmosphere overall though.

This is a great place to go for a cheap studenty night out. The bar runs practically the length of the building, which gives you a bit more chance of being seen and served. Of a weekend, this place gets really packed, and as there isnt very much floor space, it makes it quite difficult to move around. However, on a weekday evening, the bar is quite quiet and you can sit and enjoy a drink with friends. For a more raucous night out, i would say that in my opinion, a sunday night is the best night to go. Playing a good mix of cheesy pop and rock tunes, there is something for everyone to enjoy. I like La’go as a pre-gig venue as the drinks tend to be a lot cheaper than inside the actual gig venue itself.

This is one of my favourite places in liverpool, its cheap and cheeful and full of students. Situated amongst a cluster of bars it is a great place for a whole night of dancng and drinking or a stop off for some cheap doubles!!! inside is fairly basic, a long bar and limited seating flank a sort of dance floor where peope cue for drinks and dance at the same time! its always heaving and has a jolly atmosphere. The music ranges from indie to jazz classics and anything popular at the time. Overall a liverpool classic.

I though this bar was way too full. It really smelt as well, of toilets. The toilets were overflowing. I don’t know if i had just got on a bad night as the previous reviewer said it was for celebrities — I can’t imagine any going in there. It was so packed we couldnt dance or even chat as people were just pushing past us all the time. There was a little bit of a seating area but that got full very quickly. It was very cheap drinks though which was good as that’s what we wanted to get the night started! We stayed for two because of the drinks prices but I’m not too bothered about going back there unfortunately!

Lagos is one of the most popular city-centre bars in Liverpool and it’s not rare to see minor celebrities and prominent scouse footballers dancing the night away in here. Despite all the fuss around the place, I still think it feels a little cramped after 8pm and is in dire need of better seating arrangements — it’s very much«standing room only.» The music is okay but can be a little too trendy for my tastes. Still, location-wise, there aren’t many better bars than Lagos. It is situated on the corner of Seel Street and there are many bars and clubs nearby to crawl to after a few drinks in Lagos! One thing I must point out though, is that the staff are extremely friendly and have a good sense of humour! In conclusion, Lagos isn’t the best bar in Liverpool but you could do far worse if you’re after a few early evening drinks. You take your chances after that…
