Kurt Geiger

I’ve been to plenty of Kurt Geigers in my life. Heck, I’ve even worked in one of them, many moons ago. And I can confirm as an insider that each and every member of staff is trained up to within an inch of their life about shoes, shapes, materials, soles and uppers, buckles and laces, protection, all the mod cons. All the branches I’ve visited are designed well but this one, as confirmed by other Unilocalers… has an entire WALL of shoes!
Yep, the interior décor of this place is rather swish. Very well put together, very easy on the eye. As I’ve affirmed the staff are marvellously helpful, and while Mr Geiger doesn’t always provide exactly what I’m looking for (what on earth is with all the PVC thigh-​highs and dominatrix strappies?) there’s always something to catch my eye, be it a classic biker boot, a cute moccasin loafer, a lace-​up pump or a nifty shoe boot. And of course the location in the pantheon of high-​end high street retailing, the Met Quarter, is just about perfect.

Who said romance was dead? I have a love affair with almost every pair of shoes in this shop.
Kurt Geiger is a God. The King of the Stiletto. The impact of an entire wall of shoes on the female mind is shocking; thoughts ranging from the blank «Wow.» to «Where is the nearest place I can take out a loan?!» crossed my mind.
I once bought a pair for my college ball and although they were officially the most gorgeous pair of patent-​black ribbon up heels ever to grace my feet, they were almost impossible to walk in and therefore have spent most of their lives in their pretty KG box.
And yet, I’m still tempted by the KG spell (the staff are extra helpful and provide a great service) and enjoy trying on the shoes I know I’ll not be able to afford without major saving or a massive lapse in control over my credit card and my pin-​entering hand.
If you got the money, spend a bit of your cash for me!

I’ve yet to visit a Kurt Geiger store I didn’t like. This particular one however, is the Madonna of all Kurt Geiger stores.
Tucked away in the Met Quarter shopping centre, it’s a boutique store with sleek white shelving, flattering mirrors, flashes of neon and a shiny silver bookshelf filled with shoes. As for the booty, we’re talking hundreds of different pairs of high heels, kitten heels, platform heels, wedges, ballerina pumps, brogues, lace-​ups and more heels.
In fact, I challenge you to go in the store and not fall in love with at least one pair!

Oh em gee — have you seen the wall of shoes?!? I’m not exactly a fashionista, but after my makeup I would probably say shoes are my next girly indulgence. Not that I get to indulge that often, which is why I tend to shop in Primark. Anyway. Kurt Geiger shoes are beautiful. I remember they had some Dorothy a la Wizard of Oz red glitter heels — I believe I clutched them and shrieked «there’s no place like home» in the middle of the shop, amidst funny looks.
Another addition to the Met Quarter’s posh shops, they let you come in and try different shoes on without getting uppity, which is nice. The shop assistants also let me play out my «I’m really too rich to be here» fantasy, which is always nice.
What else can I say? Great shoes at a not-​so-​great price, but then they’re designer darling. The occasional sale makes you feel a little better. The shoe wall is immense and the staff leave you to your own devices.
