Staying on a jewellery tip, Curious Orange have some fabulously kitsch stock in right now. I love the 99 ice-cream and apple pie ear-rings but it’s the iced donut necklaces which make me think of films like Hairspray and Pink Flamingo. A colourful vintage store catering for both girls and boys, CO also sell colourful silk scarves, hats, leg-warmers, sunglasses, handbags and trinkets. The majority of the space however, is taken up by racks of original retro clothing from the 60s to the 90s. If you’re looking for a poncho, kaftan, embroidered hippy blouse or original maxi dress for the summer, you’ll find plenty here. In fact, the day I visited they even had some ‘50s swimsuits for Betty Page lookalikes!

Vintage, vintage and more vintage is what Quiggins seems to offer these days. Curious Orange must be doing well for itself after a move just across the corridor to a larger shop, into which, they have crammed all of their vintage and fancy dress goodies. They have loads of great stuff to get creative with, a selection of fancy masquerade masks, fruity jewellery(orange segment earrings!) and a little clear dome filled with trinkets from days gone by including a lovely gold bracelet circa 1940, some ceramic brooches, bags of all shapes and sizes and more fancy dress than you can shake a stick at! I know curiosity killed the cat, but I’m sure it wouldn’t do you any harm to root around in this wondrous little shop!

Curious Orange is one of the many absolutely adorable handmade and vintage fashion shops inside Grand Central on Renshaw Street. I popped in here yesterday, and I was really impressed by the range they offer, and the unique items I hadn’t seen in the neighboring shops, such as polymer clay earrings in very realistic fruit shapes like apple slices and orange slices. So cute! The prices were very reasonable as well. I will definitely be going back here to snag a pair of earrings some time after my next pay check comes in!
