Stopped here for a bite to eat late on a Sunday afternoon while visiting Liverpool after seeing they done a Sunday lunch set menu which we knew our Gran would like. The surroundings and atmosphere inside were pleasant and our waitress was very friendly. We had the soup(butternut squash and cumin that day), hummus and flatbread, garlic mushrooms and bruschetta to start. My sister thought it was the best hummus she’d ever tasted and I felt equally about the garlic mushrooms and crostini. For mains my Gran had the roast leg of lamb with all the Sunday lunch trimmings. She liked the lamb a lot but her veggies were all too hard to eat and the Yorkshire pudding was all soggy. The potion size was monstrous also! I split a caramelised onion and goats cheese pizza with my mum which was very nice indeed with generous toppings. We also split a portion of parmesan fries which were incredibly tasty! My sister had the watermelon and feta salad. She enjoyed the salad but it was more of an Italian salad with some watermelon and feta on top, although she did comment that the dressing was tasty. Our bill was a tad on the expensive side but I’d say overall this was a nice place to eat and a good dining experience. I think *if* I was to return I’d just pick a few dishes from the starter/tapas menu as these were much better than the mains we had.

The place looks unreal but that’s about it! I was here on Sunday for some food, very overpriced and even though there was plenty of staff on, the service was very slow! Both myself and my boyfriend got a caesar salad, for the price I was expecting a lot more then basically a head of lettuce, no sauce, very little pieces of chicken! We had to ask for mayonnaise to try and make it taste less dry! The croutons were extremely difficult to chew, I thought i would break a tooth trying to chew through them! My boyfriend ordered ‘homemade fries’, far from it you’d get better French fries in McDonald’s! We also got a Starter, was very basic and portion size was shocking!

Went here on a Tuesday they had 50% off all food which was a good start! The restaurant was quiet which was a shame for such a large place. The food was nice, if you don’t know what to order, I’d recommend ordering a few small plates instead and sampling a bit more of the menu. I thought is was a bit cheeky that they charges for a jug of water for the table, but seeing as the bill for a table of four was under £10 per person, I guess I can’t complain!

Restaurant with enough space to cover for 80. But a group of 27 people means they can’t serve you even for a light bite. Terrible service, took them almost 10 minutes to acknowledge we’d walked in. Certainly won’t be bothering to come back ever again. Absolute shambles, I’ve had better service for fast food! I’d give this place 0⁄10 if I could…

After our lunch at the Tate last Sunday, Mum and I braved the wind and took a stroll round Albert Dock. Mum is a Liverpool supporter so her eyes lit up when we walked past Circo and they had a board saying they were showing the Liverpool match. It had only kicked off 5 minutes earlier so she convinced me to go in. As a non-football fan(rugby is a real sport!) this wasn’t the most inviting proposition but it was a chance to stay out of the wind for an hour and a half so agreed. There is a restaurant and bar, and the football was shown on the TV in the bar. It is a good sized bar area, although I could imagine it getting busy on a Friday or Saturday. I was on bar duty whilst Mum watched, and found the service good. I had green tea and it was loose leaf rather than a bag, which I wasn’t expecting. The barmaid brought the tea over to our table which I thought was nice. Mum was on lemonade. Don’t let it be said we don’t know how to enjoy ourselves. Paid around £3.50 for the two drinks, which was great value especially as she brought the tea over. Other people were drinking beer/cocktails and there seemed to be a good variety. when I looked behind the bar there was a good variety of spirits. Whilst pretending to get excited about the football, I looked around at the décor and seemed quirky. I could imagine this would be a «wags» type place on a Friday or Saturday and I tend to avoid those places, but for a place to watch football, or just go for drinks in the afternoon, then it is a good place to go. They showed both Sunday games, including Man City, so they don’t just show Liverpool/Everton games. Not sure if they televise other sport but worth enquiring if you are in Liverpool and want to watch sport.

Came here on a hen do… When I was first presented with the menu to prebook it was up my street. From goats cheese for a starter, sea bass for a main and cheese cake for dessert… and there was a £10 deposit… So I entered this place. and found it to be very mish mashed. .bar staff who’s only advise was to add coke to everything, stuffed bears with balls in their mouths and a random outdoor bathroom to pose in a ball filled tub… After a pricey drink we were led to the dining area… They had made an effort with the spread filling it with tatty hen do tatt and there was a refreshing strawberry drink awaiting us. As we waited for the food there was a masked man hanging from the beams. which I thought was quite cool. Anyway my starter arrived… and it looked like a small bird had shat on some lettuce… it was pathetic… a white blob. and some leaves… which was eaten in two mouthfuls… The main. sea bass… served Luke warm on some flat noodles… mhe . The cheese cake… some Philadelphia on a cracker… After we ate(which I’m still starving as I write this btw) they wanted a further 30 Quid each AND a service charge… we even had to chase our entitled shots… Overall a stupidly expensive place. which had good fire breathers and stuff while you ate. which was probably to distract you from the food you were eating… but very poor portions and taste… definitely not worth the 45 Quid. I only kept quiet because it was my friends hen do. But hey avoid at all costs

The first thing that struck me about this place is the very American menu… burgers, pulled pork sandwich, ribs, etc. And even a Barnum & Bailey motif. I’m not even sure they realize the place has such an American slant. And it isn’t the reason we came. But here it is… a little bit of America in Albert Dock. Sadly, our meal was terrible. I don’t think I’ve ever really had a good burger in the UK but this one was especially bad. It had a strange gamey taste to it. Maybe that’s what the locals like? I don’t. To be fair, the ribs were ok and so were the duck rolls. This place seems like it’s primarily built to be an event venue or a night club. Maybe it’s good for that kind of evening. But not the best choice for just having dinner.

Circo is located on the historical Albert Dock in Liverpool; which set it up to be a great experience! This was the one and only restaurant I visited on my trip to Liverpool, and the only thing I can think is, «what a waste!» The service was terrible(we were honestly treated like we were a nuisance), the food was so-so, and the price was steep for a sandwich. Yes, I likely had the bar set fairly high as my prized visit to Liverpool was expected to be awesome(and it was otherwise). I truly think that we were not the level of clientele that Circo was used to: fashionable Liverpudlian with money to waste. If you’re a visitor to Liverpool, do your research first to find a cozy local pub, otherwise, plan to dress accordingly.

A more than valid option at one of my favourite locations Albert Docks, the circus theme restaurant despite all the intrigue of the marketing jazz is not acutally all that its made out to be. Glaring shortcomings were exposed by Emma in that the menu is not as diverse as you’d expect from a decent restaurant. On the plus side it does have a good location. The dining experiance can be also rather inviting with the two offers they have on at the moment. 241 breakfast offer and 2 courses for £14.95. The latter being from sunday to thursday offer. So get yourself down to the circus.

Circo is an interesting and unique bar situated right in the heart of the upmarket Albert Dock area of Liverpool. In many ways this place is a little bit out of place, rather than being your simple classy and elegant bar this place has a bit of an edge to even stating itself to be something of a freak show. It was refreshing to see a bar that was so different at the heart of somewhere which is fantastic but a little bit predictable in general. The décor here is fantastic with circus lights and cabaret signs and even cages which make this place a real experience. They often have live entertainment here and this place always has a top notch atmosphere and is definitely one of my favourite bars to visit around the docks area. The prices may be steep but I still believe that the value is good as this place is top quality.

Sittin’ on the dock of the bay… actually, the Albert Dock, but let’s try and imagine it’s just as glam and dreamy sounding. Well, Circo certainly bumps up the interest factor as it’s… wait for it… a circus-themed restaurant! What’s the obsession with circuses at the moment? Between Take That, Britney Spears and the current series of Big Brother it seems we’re all craving a ringmaster(ooh, matron) and some face paint these days. Top hats at the ready, roll up roll up, we’re going in. They bandy the words ‘Freak Show’ around a lot but hey, that’s hip and happening right now. It’s really high class in here. They’ve done amazing things with the space, and it’s an incredible venue in which to hold events. You can reserve a booth and get a group involved, hire out a section or just book a regular table, but whatever you do you’ll get amazing entertainment. Cocktails brought directly to your table is another huge plus — the waitresses are very friendly and ridiculously efficient. But what of the food? Well, first of all it ain’t cheap, but it is lovely. High quality, gorgeous nibbly bits(all the starters are around £6 for bread and olives to £8.50 for scallops), steaks are just under £20 and there are a ton of very highbrow meat options and… well, this is the one thing that REALLY drags the place down. There is one veggie option. One! Pumpkin risotto. Three fish options, that’s fine by me, but ONE veggie option? Has Gordon Ramsay been here? Ooh, Circo, you’re glitzy, you’re amazing, your desserts are fab and everything’s delicious and the service is swell but… one veggie option. Just don’t bring any strict veggies here. Otherwise, give it a try — it’s darn spectacular!

An overpriced dockside nightclub the temperature of the Kalahari filled with apes in suits, wannabe WAGs and empty tables dotted with smug ‘reserved’ signs, the latter being incredibly frustrating when you just want to sit down. As you may have already guessed, Circo isn’t my kind of place. From the football players to the Hollyoaks faces, everybody here acts like they’ve got something to prove, instead of just enjoying themselves. The bouncers weren’t particularly helpful either, telling me they didn’t know where the toilets were before guiding me to an area that turned out to be inaccessible without a special invitation. Cheers lads.

As with the other restaurants along Liverpool’s waterside Albert Dock, the guys at Circo have struck gold with the views and surrounding architecture that enhances the experience at Circo. This place is really only worth heading to at the weekend, prefferably at evening as it can be very quiet and a bit eerie during the week. Although don’t get your hopes up for ‘freakshow’ it’s not an actual freak show just more of a circus talent show — damn p.c. world we live in, bring back real freaks! Food is also served here and is a very good modern British style good for lunch and dinner.

Circo is a really nice place to go for lunch, dinner or a drink. The restaurant is on the very popular Albert Dock, and can therefore get very busy. The space is really well laid out, with lovely views from some of the booths. The drinks can be expensive from Circo but most places in the area are pretty steep, so make sure you’ve got a bottomless pocket if you’re heading this way for the evening. They also have ‘freekshow’ every other Saturday night which is a brilliant evening out, I got down there at around half 10 and the atmosphere was already great, but by midnight the place was heaving and buzzing. The staff were really fast and friendly even thought the bar was packed.

Circo is an award-winning restaurant and café bar. I first visited it when my friend won 30,000 to host a party there. The venue was awesome, well decorated with a great layout. On a normal night Circo’s cocktails are my favourite. Drinks are expensive but because the service is excellent it’s definitely worth it. If you want to visit for a meal, you can view the Albert Dock whilst you indulge in a variety of foods. Favourites include seared scallops and pumpkin risotto. If you can’t make it for an evening date with Circo, then the café bar opens at 10am offering burgers and pasta specials. The venue also does party bookings for special occasions. Definitely one of the most versatile and unique places in Liverpool to visit.

I found Circo on a recent visit to Liverpool dockland area. We were looking for somewhere interesting to have lunch and were impressed by the modern décor and enjoyed the ambiance that Circo offered. After studying the menu, which was pretty varied, with something to suit everyone, we made full use of the weekly lunch time offers and found the service welcoming and helpful whilst making our choices. Excellent choice of starters and main courses but Circo is rather light on the dessert menu, with only three sweets and a cheeseboard on offer!
