Excellent variety of pizzas here. The Slices are of good size and they are absolutely delicious. Top notch pizza for a good price too:)

‘You still looking at the menu?’ Man… ‘I’ve been dreaming about pizza all morning and now we’re here, you can’t decide which to go for?‘ Jeez… ‘I think I’ll order a slice of margherita whilst I’m waiting! Scratch that, I’ll order two slices whilst I’m waiting. And a bottle of ice-cold Coke.’

I’ve always avoided the American Pizza Slice shop in Liverpool city centre(something to do with an ex-girlfriend working there — it’s awkward enough when someone you know/like serves you in a shop, but someone you try to avoid serving you? Swerve that). Imagine my delight then when I discovered an American Pizza Slice shop had opened in Waterloo. With my friends’ recommendations still ringing in my ears, I entered the shop eager to sample their delights and was not disappointed. I got two slices — one margherita and one pepperoni — and found that not only were they pretty cheap(£1.80 a slice) but that they were deliciously cheesy and hot without feeling the need to take the roof of my mouth off. The shop itself is moderately sized, with a little seating area for you to eat your slice(or whole pizza if you’re feeling hungry), although I’m tempted to knock off a star for the Freddie Mercury lookalike pictured on the front of the shop eating a slice of pizza. Mercury qualms aside, this is a welcome alternative to the usual kebab/pizza places along South Road.

American Pizza Slice is my favourite place to grab a slice of pizza and a chilled coke. Whenever I’m out shopping and I get a mite peckish, I walk to the mini restaurant faster than lightening for my favourite Hawaiian. At around £1.80 for a slice of pizza(they call it a slice, it’s so big it’s practically half), APS is cheaper than most other places. Not only that, the pizza is delicious, on a great, kind-of buttery tasting base, with just the right amount of crunch and topping. I rarely like any other type of pizza, if it isn’t from Pizza Express or APS then I won’t eat it(waste of calories). If you want to sit-in, APS has a couple of chairs, stools and tables. I recommend walking down to the lake and indulging your slice in the sunshine. If you get a craving at home, luckily they do takeaway! Hooray.
