As part of our visit to Lisburn, we’d booked dinner at Del Toro Steak House and Urban Grill on Antrim Street. I’d had a sneaky look at the menu online beforehand so couldn’t wait to try the 28 day aged steak for myself! We arrived about 8.30pm and the place was really busy– no doubt reflective of the tasty food which was to come. The place has a distinctive character, nicely lit up with lanterns dotted around the restaurant. So, it was time for dinner. For starters I choose the warm chilli beef nachos, served with cheese, guacamole and sour cream. The chilli had a good spice to it– a nice kick, but not too overpowering. Mum went for one of the day’s special, Sticky BBQ pulled pork springroll. There were three large springrolls served with a Cashel Blue mayo and were just bursting with flavour. She savoured every bite! For mains I went for one of the famous steaks– 12oz Sirloin served with Garlic cubes. No sauce was needed as an accompaniment, and you can tell steak is one of the restaurant’s specialties. Mum picked the Grilled Irish hake, which is served with potato terrine, smoked bacon and fine beans. Again, excellent remarks from her about the brilliant, complimentary flavours. There was no room for dessert but we left fully satisfied. Not one bit of food was left on the plate and we will definitely be back soon!

The first time I visited the steak I ordered was so overcooked that I sent it back, unfortunately the next one was nearly as bad… I didn’t send it back again though because my partners food was already cold enough! I was adamant that I wasn’t going to go again as a steakhouse should be able to get a steak right, but my boyfriend persuaded me to give them another go for the Sunday special menu! And I have to say I’m glad that he did, the food was excellent :) No steak this time, as I went for the lamb… it was a little dry but much nicer than expected. I wouldn’t rave about this place but I would go back again so that’s gotta be worth 3 stars.

Del Toro Steak house is a great Tuscan themed steak house in Lisburn. They offer a great selection off Tuscan food and serve exquisite staeks. The restaurant is really rustic, warm and inviting and the staff really do look after you here. We popped in for dinner one night upon hearing great reviews of the food. We were seated quickly which was good and our drink order taken. A bottle of house white-whichby the way was fabulous! The menu us great and varied. We went forthe Spanish style sharing platter for starters which consisted of olives, meats breads and cheeses and was divine! I would highy recommend it! Then the mains, we knew we wanted staeak! I went for the 12oz sirloin with chorizo, mozzerrella and red onion chutney and my partner the surf and turf. Both medium and both cooked to perfection! It was a struggle to finish but we managed! The meal was perfect and this is certainly a new faavourite of mine!
