The Pyewipe Inn

I thought my daughter had found a lovely Inn by the
side of a river, where we could enjoy some good food. We ordered the
strips of beef in a cream sauce and the duck, along with a large glass of
white wine and a pimms, the waitress at the time stressed the point about
the duck being served pink, I said that was good, then we went outside and
waited. After forty-​five minutes the food arrived, my daughter’s beef looked
fine but my duck was grey. Unsuccessfully, we looked to get the attention
of one of the teenage waiters. In the end my daughter took my
duck into the main restaurant. Five minutes later, out came a rather stern
looking dark haired woman with the charisma of a screwed up empty crisp packet,
and offered another dish, which she said would only take fifteen minutes to
prepare etc

smiled, thanked her and ordered two more pimms. My daughter ate her meal as we
waited, and by the time we had finished our second drink, it suddenly
dawned on me, that we had been there two hours and I hadn’t eat a thing.
So, I walked into the restaurant canceled the duck and asked for my card to be
reaccredited. I wasn’t given any apology, and I was told to see the woman
behind the bar to get reimbursed. I asked if I could have one of the drinks
free as a curtsey, raising her voice at me she said no, because
I had canceled the food when it was on its way, when it clearly wasn’t. I
asked to see the proprietor; suddenly a blond haired woman in a chef’s coat
tapped me on the shoulder and took me to one side. As I began to explain my
experience, she too began raising her voice at me. Obviously this wasn’t
the way to speak to a customer as far as I was concerned, however, the ultimate
humiliation came when she shouted in my face «GET OUT OF MY RESTAURANT
» with her arm out stretched, pointing at the door, as if I were some sort
of trouble maker. Both my daughter and I have never been spoken to in any
establishment, in such a way. As far as I am concerned, the service
was abominable, as for the food I couldn’t comment because I didn’t get to
try it, but my daughter said it was a very small portion for the price. In
short, no stars for management and hospitality. They did not want to know, or
listen, they need to study customer care and service. We will take our custom
else where and so will my friends and family in future. It does beg the
question How many people have they treated in this way? I wonder!

Well established and popular with panoramic views of Lincoln and the Cathedral.
Warm welcome and efficient service. Sensible range of food reasonably priced.
Fillet of Beef medallion on potato rosti was very good. Freshly made salad with dressing was good too.
Everards Tiger and Ruddles Best on draught.
Great mooring for boaters. Plenty of parking for drivers

if you manage to stumble upon this pub /​restaurant then you are in for a treat. food is great, if a little dearer than you might expect but with the option of outside eating in decent weather or inside in a recently redecorated restaurant you can have a lovely summers evening here. Outside seating is in an elevated position so while your drinking you can watch the long boats, narrow boats and pleasure cruisers sail up and down ! They have patio heaters for when the temperature drops as well ! Bar area is fairly small so in busy times you can have a bit of a jostle to get served but the staff are normally fair and don’t let people jump the queue loads of parking, very quiet location and a real change from the norm. go visit !

The Pyewipe is one of my favourite pubs. It has a perfect canal-​side and railway-​side location, and there is nothing more pleasant than to sit outside in the summer, watching the boats and the trains pass by. And that’s even before I mention the food! Its fantastic and always delicious. I recommend the chips, they are the best I have ever tasted anywhere.
The pub is located out of the way, so it can take some effort to find it if you’ve never visited before, but it is worth it in the end!

This has recently been taken back over by its original owners. The food is now top notch again and the reputation is rebuilding (after it was ruined by the last owners). I would strongly recommend that anyone who has had a bad experience here, tries it again. You will be pleasantly surprised.

You have to go down a long road to get there, very tucked out the way, not a bad pub but could be better

I kept passing this place on the A57 but I was above it and could see no way in. Of course you have to leave the 57 and go down and under it.
The best way to get to the pub, on a summers day/​eve is to walk along the canal path of Britain’s oldest man made waterway, the Roman built Fossdyke Canal, from Brayford Pool. (about 20 mins) Careful walking back hic :0)
It is set on the water in about 4 acres of parkland. If you have a Barge or Longboat, a kyak or coracle then mooring is free to customers. They also have a lodge where you can rent a room with kingsize beds. (Not stayed so can’t comment).
Food yum. you can eat on the terrace until sunset.
The main courses are between £9 and £19.
Huge steaks. Pan Seared Sea-​Bass Fillet. Oven Roasted Salmon
Served on a Bed of Wilted Spinach and Sautéed Potatoes with Lemon and Herb and veggie dishes for moi.
Lovely place. Four stars because they looked at me a bit snottily as I had a leather bike jacket on when I went it.
