Timoney’s

I have been going to Timoneys for years — I used to go there as a teenager when I preferred a vegetarian diet and their vegetarian breakfast is Devine! They serve is with peppers and mushrooms and this lovely relish — they can also provide you with gluten free bread should you need it.
I came up to leeds this last weekend to work and visit family but specifically wanted to go to my favourite breakfast shop — Timoneys. I booked in advance for 3 of us and double checked they had the gluten free bread I require (they did) and looked forward to my visit — I was working the day we went (Friday) and only had a short lunch break, my dad and his partner arrived before me and wanted to order as we were all on deadlines — they refused to take the order until I got there — they offered to pay before hand and explained that I was only down the road (waking as fast as my legs could take me) and the staff still refused to serve them before I got there… This meant that we were struggling for time and my dad ended up leaving to go to the café over the road
I just don’t understand why they wouldn’t serve them? They offered to pay for the food in advance so there was no risk of them being out of pocket — very very disappointed

A superb lil’ café on the edge of Roundhay Park. I have visited this place on a few occasions, and each time I’ve been I’ve loved it!
It is a hugely popular spot to grab lunch, breakfast or coffee, and what ever time of the day it is, this place is full. The ‘larger-​than-​life’ owner (an energetic Aussie lady) seems to be on first-​name-​terms with nearly every customer; this personable nature of Timoney’s is clearly one of the big pulls.
The food here is spot on, always tastes great and is excellently presented. Clearly a lot of love and pride goes into their food.

Just as you said Rowena Timoney’s is worth a visit. My daughter and I called for lunch ahd was not disappointed. lovely tasty food very reasonable prices and very friendly staff.

From the moment I walked into Timoney’s I felt welcomed and relaxed (and the staff were really busy too).
The service, right from seating me to settling the bill, came with a smile and I felt that I got good advice on the menu options. Considering that that it was lunchtime and the place was full my food was delivered in a timely style and was very well presented. But enough about the frills, it was the grub that really thrilled, it tasted delicious and I so wish that I hadn’t been on a tight schedule with a limited budget because i could quite happily have stayed here all afternoon.
My only problem with Timoney’s (and it is my problem) was that it was a little pricey but i would certainly head back there if I was in the mood to treat myself (or be treat, nudge, nudge)

I have never met as hard a working as the crazy Aussie in Timoney’s!
Always with a smile and quick wit, she cooks and bakes and serves and has just started an evening supper menu (i say «just» but it was a few months ago!). she’s awesome. I want her to be my nbf.
oh yeah… the food is pretty damned tasty too!
For the supper, there are two main options; one veggie and one meaty, a cheese board and a sharing platter… all lovingly described by the waitress, even down to the herbs that are used. Me and the lover had the first two and thought they were delish… so we decided to have dessert! now, i have had desserts her before. have the cheesecake.
in fact, don’t have the cheesecake… it was awwwwwfffuuuulll (good there might be some left for me the next time I visit!)
They have a no pushing you out for the next sitting policy, so you may have to wait for a table, but it is certainly worth a visit!

I really didn’t expect to be quite so bowled over by my luncheon sandwich here as I was. Oh crikey, it was good! I went in on my way home from a half day at work, I’d missed the next bus to take me home and I’d forgotten my sandwiches so I was ravenous by 2.30pm! (As anyone would be.)
Knowing Oakwood is only a small place I was afraid I might be disappointed, but remembered having seen Timoney’s before. I went in and was greeting promptly by a very smiley waitress. She handed me a menu and I was, at first, a bit put off that unless I went with what seemed like a simple cold sandwich I would have to spend more than a fiver on my lunch. I bit the bullet and ordered the hot chicken and cheese sandwich, sans drink, to keep it down to £5. (£4.95 to be precise.)
When the food came over I was astonished! There was a delicious exciting granary bread slice, covered in the most exquisite creamy tomato and herb sauce, with a generous portion of chicken pieces lovingly covered in melted cheese. As well as this there was one of the nicest portions of home-​made coleslaw and salad I have ever had the pleasure of tasting.
As I was enjoying my food the waitress came over to check everything was ok, which was sweet too. I overheard her saying to another lady who was just leaving to be careful on the ice, which I thought was lovely. It just goes to show that you can’t judge quality by anything other than testing it out! Though simplistic in its décor it is mighty in its cuisine.
For caring and earnest staff, delicious food and a pleasant time I’d suggest you try Timoney’s.

A very standard looking café with frosted glass on the front and basic furniture as you enter — it is a massive pet-​hate of mine that cafés have uncomfortable wooden bench-​like seating, similar to the type that made you squirm at school. If you are going to sit down with a coffee and cake with a friend you, want a long natter in not short and sweet utterances and if you are set up as a café this is what should be provided, boo to the desire of speedy turnover of customers… give me comfort. Anyhow, a smiling bubbly lady greeted me after serving a regular customer who had a tab to clear. I had a surf of the menu and it all looked good, sandwiches, hot foods such as jacket potatoes and soups, all freshly made onsite. They also had some quirky coffees and cakes. The rectangle-​like Victoria sponge was crammed with cream and jam and the scones were cranberry and lemon. I’d definitely come here again.
