Can straight from the airport to get some breakfast and it was phenomenal. We had a mix of breakfast sandwiches, the breakfast plate and steak and eggs. Everything was delicious including the coffee but the toast was the definite stand out. Highly recommend this little place. No sign out front but it’s next to the Beijing Acupuncture shop.

This place seriously saved our lives after a big night out. For only a fiver, a FIVER! you got a full English breakfast and a brew included. Unfortunately it has far too few tables given its popularity, so we had to wait about 20 minutes, but the lovely Scottish lady behind the counter promptly took our orders and confirmed we’d have first dibs on the next available table. We caned about two bottles of apple/orange juice each during this time(£1.25 a pop) to stay hydrated. Once seated by the large windows it wasn’t too long before we were served and it was a mighty fine sight to behold. The egg was fried perfectly, the sausage was succulent and the sourdough toast made for a nice change to the ‘hot limp bread’ you get at other places. As well as a few breakfast plates, they also had lunch and dinner options which looked good and again, weren’t expensive. We walked 1,000 metres from our hotel to get to them based on the Unilocal score and it was completely worth it!

Meh, it’s alright. Small place, little ventilation(hell on warm days). The sandwiches are ok. Highlight is definitely the hand-cut chips, those were excellent. It’s cheap, so that’s good. Otherwise, a bit too far from City Centre to be worth it.

Appearances are deceptive — this place looks a little scruffy on the outside /quite bohemian inside — very friendly staff — i ordered the american style pancakes with maple syrup and crispy bacon after reading others reviews and was very glad i did — stacks of food and its not often i can’t finish my meal! my partner had a bacon bap — huge big bacon sandwich on a fresh bun — impressive menu with plenty of vegetarian options and lots of gourmet /deli style food items like halloumi etc — seems to have its regulars as i noticed a guy ordering ”the usual” — i would definatly go again when i’m next in the area

This is not just your standard café it is so much more. If the smell of freshly made pancakes isnt enough to lure you in then maybe the offer of a warm friendly atmosphere will do the trick. You are always greeted with a smile here as the staff are just lovely. The menu is pretty large and everything I have tried has been so good I only remembered about taking a picture when my plate was empty, whoops! The fry ups they do are the best I have ever had and you can really taste the quality in everything they use. They also offer a veggie breakfast which is just as good. The pork and chorizo burger is amazing! It is so juicy and flavourful, they are so good I managed two! They also have a selection of sandwiches which all look great. In particular the chicken, chorizo and red pepper sandwich is sooo yummy. There are always baked treats to tempt the ones with a sweet tooth. Their brownies in particular are beyond amazing! Every trip I take to this place I love it that little bit more and their food just keeps getting better and better. What is particularly great to see is the passion they have for everything they do. Everything on the menu is so well thought out and made with love. I am lucky enough to have this place pretty much right on my doorstep but for you who don’t live close by, you should definitely make the trip here and see for yourself. I have no doubts that you will be planning what to have next time before you leave. I will enjoy making my way through the rest of the menu and I urge you all to do the same.

I have lost count of my visits to The Greedy Pig, but I certainly haven’t lost my loyalty. In fact, after another fantastic meal, I’m beginning to wonder if I didn’t move back to Leeds just to be near this place. I really can’t fault these guys. For me, they tick every box: a varied menu, quality ingredients, a vege breakfast with interesting alternatives(the spicy corn bread is a surprising, but very welcome, substitute for bacon), low low prices, flexibility(substituting a cold drink for my friend’s unwanted tea/coffee), and plenty of smiles. The sauce comes in bottles, the tea isn’t poncey, the newspapers are on hand, and the only reason not to stay longer is because you feel bad about depriving other Pig fans of a much sought-after seat. I’m not ashamed to admit doing a quick run round the shops after failing to get a place first time. It’s worth it. Now normally, a huge all-day breakfast is very welcome, but there is something to be said for this one: it’s just the right size to fill you up, but leave a little leeway for dessert: a must, with some delicious blondies and cheesecake on offer(I’ve sampled both, of course, over my various visits). So, I know the breakfast is great. Next time, I really will have to indulge my curiosity and actually spend some time perusing the chalkboard menu… … but the breakfasts are just so good!

Although the Greedy Pig is a little off the beaten track, it’s definitely worth the trip! From mouth-watering sandwiches to some of the best cheesecake this side of New York, there really is something for everyone. Despite being a die hard meat consumer, the vegetarian offerings were enough to send my mind spinning! The Greedy Pig also host the most amazing supper clubs at different venues in the city so if you get the chance, don’t miss out.

I really don’t know how to explain how great this place is. Maybe the fact that I’ve been back three weekends running is enough to assure you that I love this place! Whether it’s busy or quiet, I have never been disappointed. I often expect the service to take a bit of a dip when a place is packed out but I haven’t had that here. The full breakfast is fantastic. I opted for the veggie one which comes with home made corn bread and Ohhh my goodness it’s delicious! My partner had the meat option and did not stop raving about the quality of the sausages. On top of the tastiness, it’s fantastic value for money! I really love the coffee here too. It’s nice and strong and will knock that hang over or sleepy head right off your shoulders! The owners are incredibly friendly too. There literally isn’t a bad word to be said about The Greedy Pig. But don’t just take my word for it…

I should have reviewed The Greedy Pig a long time ago, but having only signed up to Unilocal!recently(forgive me, please?) this is my first chance. I first went to The Greedy Pig about 18 months ago(maybe more!) on the recommendation of my friend Claire, who heralded it as one of the best sandwich shops in Leeds. The first sandwich I had there was the Hog Roast sandwich, with some Twice Cooked Chips. The Hog Roast sandwich was just beautiful — perfectly cooked pork in soft but slightly toasted white bread with rocket, and home-made apple and chilli sauce. The Twice Cooked Chips were perfect — super fluffy on the inside and just the right amount of crispy on the outside. I’ve since become a regular of The Greedy Pig, returning at least once per week for a fix. I’ve tried pretty much most of the menu I think, and heartily recommend their Wednesday pulled pork specials, and Friday burger specials — the pulled pork is probably the best I’ve ever tried. Their breakfasts have spoiled me for pretty much any other café too. I once heard of The Pig referred to as a ‘greasy spoon’, and actually felt that a bit unfair, they’re much more than fry ups! Price wise, you couldn’t ask for a better bargain! The quality *and* quantity of food you get for the price is fantastic. For roughly the same price as you’d pay for a lunchtime meal elsewhere, you can get a sandwich and chips that’ll have you feeling that content and full that you’ll be asking colleagues to wake you up in the afternoon if your boss comes. The owners and staff are really friendly — you’re always guaranteed a warm welcome. The husband and wife owners, Jo and Stu, seem to work really hard to make sure that all of their customers are greeted and tended to. I think the only thing that may let The Greedy Pig down for some, is the size of the café — at busy times it can be a little difficult to get sat down inside. But to me that’s just a testament to the great food. It’s definitely worth waiting that few minutes longer for.

Yum corn bread! Horribly hung over(after an amazing Unilocal Cocktail Craw, I must add), we threw ourselves at this place trying to get a hearty breakfast in us to stop the shakes! We sat outside as inside every table was filled and people were waiting for takeaways. pretty impressive considering its location(i.e. not that much footfall). I am pretty glad of this, as the smell of the cooking may have turned my stomach! Although there was a massive array of options, they were only serving full breakfasts and breakfast baps. I wasn’t too bothered as the former is exactly what i wanted, but perhaps something to bear in mind if you wanted something a bit more specific. Anyway, the food took a while to arrive(we’d finished our coffees by the time it had), but boy! was it delicious! A full veggie breakfast with some amazing corn bread that has inspired me to give it a go! just what the doctor ordered(just after he told me to stop drinking!)

Absolutely delicious! I went a few weeks back when I accidentally stumbled across it and decided to go in as I’d 1. heard lots of good things about it and 2. was hung over and ravenous. I ordered a veggie breakfast with a cup of coffee and it was heavenly! The spicy corn bread in particular stood out for me, it wasn’t too spicy and just moist enough. Everything on the menu sounded excellent and convinced me to return a fortnight later but unfortunately there were no tables and I left with an empty stomach and a sad heart. The price was spot on, and the service was super friendly. The only thing that hold it back from 5 stars for me, is the lack of seats and ventilation — the smoke from the cooking does hit you quite hard when you come in and you risk leaving smelling like you’ve been there longer than you actually have!

Wow. This place. Just… wow. It was suggested by my friend Charlotte whom I hadn’t seen in a little while that we catch up at the Greedy Pig over a cheeky fry up and a tall latte. Seen as she and her fella Andy frequent the place as part of their ‘hungover after payday drinks’ ritual, I figured there must be a reason they keep going back(besides the fact it’s about 3 mins walk from Andy’s flat… lucky him!). I’d heard great things about this place… REALLY great things, but I must admit to sharing Rowena’s skepticism when someone bigs something up to me too much, like a band or a film or a book. You’ll just be setting my cynical heart up for disappointment from the off. For the Greedy Pig however, I’m willing to make an exception. As soon as you walk in you’re greeted as an old friend. Jo, the lady who runs the Greedy Pig is lovely. Even on this day — a Saturday, and arguably one of her busiest days of the week — she was full of smiles and friendly banter. Andy made no bones about it; he was there for the Greedy Pig breakfast and told me to opt for the same. Trusting his judgement, I did. We took a seat next to the big airy window and I admired the little ceramic pigs in the wall as we sipped on our lattes. I could not get over the awesome prices in this place. It almost feels criminal that they’re so cheap. You pay £3.95 for the greedy Pig breakfast which gets you 2 juicy sausages, a lovely juicy rasher of bacon, beans, mushroom, fried toms, a fluffy hash brown and two triangles of buttery bread in white or brown. Charlotte opted for the scrambled egg with toast which was only a couple of quid, and it seemed more than enough for a substantial brekkie. The Greedy Pig also does speciality teas which is lovely, if that’s your thing. I don’t know what possessed me, but I decided I wanted a brownie after my breakfast(another steal at £1 for a slice that was easily the length of my hand)…oh man. It may have actually been the most delicious brownie I’ve ever tasted. Rich, soft, gooey and spattered with little chocolate chips — it was just what the doctor ordered. There’s only one thing that dampened my ardour for the Greedy Pig… I just couldn’t forgive the size of the place. There’s only four tables to sit at… four tables in arguably one of the most beloved cafes in Leeds. I know we’re in tough economic times, and moving premises is risky, but I felt sorry for anyone who came in after us and there was no where to sit. We were just so lucky with our timing, but I imagine I would not be impressed after traipsing over there to find there’s nowhere to sit and enjoy the spirit of the place. I heard a woman whinny on across the way about how long it was taking for a staff member to come over and wipe the table down, and that didn’t even bother me. In fact, a part of me wanted to tell her«Sweetheart, do you not SEE the queue leading out the door? Ask for a cloth and do it yourself!» I’m no business expert, but the Pig has the demand, the loyal customer base. A part of me even thinks it would be a good thing to move to bigger premises one day, closer to the city centre even(sorry, Andy!) Needless to say I’ll be coming back. This is a place I see myself having a lot of great times with good company in. :)

Just been here for an impromptu lunch to celebrate my Mr passing his driving theory test. Am so so so so stuffed. The Mr has been so tempted to go down and try the Hog roast sandwich so today I made his wish come true. We arrived to witness a mega stuffed flatbread been lovingly placed in the griddle machine and in seeing this my mind was almost made up– had I now seen the alternative fillings. We had the pleasure of time to sit in today which was a real treat so we filled our boots indeed. Hog roast sandwich for the Mr, Chicken. Chorizo and cheddar flatbread for me, twice cut chips and a couple of posh fizzy drinks for a mere £10.20– bargainlicious! We had to do the obligatory sharing(and I’m so happy for my wonderful Husbands generosity) so I had half of each sandwich to tantalise the taste buds. Check out the pics– they will make you drool. I’d like to go here every day but the fear of getting a few stone heavier stops this! T he menu is so good and the produce displayed so well than it can never just be a sandwich…

There’s not much for me to say that hasn’t already been mentioned in previous reviews, so I’ll just concur with them and say that The Greedy Pig is fantastic and probably the best place for lunch in Leeds by a long stretch. Personal favourites are the crispy chicken sandwich with chips and, if I’ve got room, a white chocolate and peanut butter brownie(aka a ‘blondie’). Most of the sandwiches, even the hot ones, are around £2.50 — £2.80, which is very cheap compared to anywhere of a similar quality, and a big slab of cake or a plate of chips will only set you back about a quid. There are also plenty of healthy options and lots for veggies to choose from. Really good food for very reasonable prices served by lovely friendly staff. Go here!

The Greedy Pig may not be right in the centre of Leeds but it’s worth the extra 5 minutes or so walk to get there. The food is home-made by Jo and Stu, the owners who clearly put a lot of passion and hard work into what they do. The menu has a vast selection of breakfast and lunch food that will satisfy meat-eaters and vegetarians alike. I highly recommend the halloumi sandwich and the roast pork. Both are decadent and delicious. Also, if it’s a hot day the ice lattes are a great way to keep cool. Overall the Greedy Pig has great food, very friendly service and crazy cheap prices. If you’ve not been before, you should definitely go. Your taste-buds will thank you for it.

I feel very sorry for anywhere that has to constantly live up to a five star reputation and I approached the Pig with some trepidation that I might be the one to destroy it’s perfect 5. It seems I needn’t have worried. As soon as I walked in I received a warm welcome and service was quick and efficient. The tea was good and not over priced and I was so glad that I decided to try the hog roast(except that I’m going to have to find excuses to try it again and again). I intend to return to apply my world famous taste buds to the breakfast. I’ve had some excellent breakfasts in my time so we shall see ;)

Admittedly, I felt a little bit like Mr. Greedly(does anyone remember Captain Planet these days?) upon dining at The Greedy Pig. It felt somewhat akin to theft: the meal that I had, compared to the amount I spent for it. In addition to consuming my first ever hog roast sandwich(with the most delightful apple filling — who’d have thought) and easily the best chips in Leeds, I was afforded lessons on the difference between a hog roast and American pulled pork. Plus, upon raving about the delightfulness of my bowl of chips(for just £1 with my sandwich!), I was initiated into the secrets of how to achieve that crispy-on-the-outside-but-steamy-and-starchy-on-the-inside perfection that seems so readily done by the proprietor at this unassuming establishment. Well worth the quick trip from the city centre, your exertions will be rewarded with pleasant conversation, savoury sandwiches, and barely a dent in your wallet.

The reputation of this place certainly precedes it, and so trusting the judgement of Unilocal and Twitter, I found myself at just the right end of town to pop in the other day for some lunch. It was a fortuitous thing that I’d just finished up a meeting nearby, in perfect time for lunch, and so trotted over anticipating something great. Without meaning to sound like a negative person, I often find when something has been talked up that much the actuality of the thing isn’t quite as good as you’d hoped — as with films, if all of your friends tell you how fantastic it is, sometimes it’s not quite as epic as you’d imagined from all the talk. Well. The five star rating will give you an inkling as to my thoughts. It’s still, seemingly, in essence a greasy spoon –the delightful aromas of fried breakfasts waft out as you approach — but they’ve filled in the missing link to this well loved style of establishment. It’s a gourmet greasy spoon. All of those hardy staples are available, bacon sarnies and the like, but in this place each detail appears to be polished with finesse. Having long since craved a good hog roast sandwich I felt there was no other option for me — especially given that it came with not just apple sauce, but apple and chilli sauce, and so that is what I ordered. I took a seat in the very casual al fresco tables just out front, since it was an inordinately hot day, and waited no more than five minutes for my fare. The café itself is pleasantly decorated, with a good bit of seating if you don’t wish for take out, and lovely open front glass windows for a good view.(It may be a view of the road, but hey — it’s something to look at.) Now, the sandwich. It was piping hot, so freshly cooked, and utterly awesome. The pork was wonderfully cooked and incredibly generous, all perfectly rounded off by the delicious apple and chilli sauce –which was neither too spicy nor too sweet.(Hi, I’m Goldilocks the perfect sandwich.) The bread was incredible, fluffy, crispy and fresh, and there was even a good bit of rocket to boot. Needless to say I swiftly demolished it, and didn’t look too pretty doing so either. It was a proper stuff job but with all the sauce and meat to contend with I challenge anyone to look dainty whilst devouring that bad boy. I also partook of a coffee on my visit, which was very reasonably priced for a double shot –about two pound –and it was pretty decent to wash the food down with as well. The lady who served me was lovely, and the chap who proudly presented my sandwich of Kings was also rather jolly. All in all, The Greedy Pig will make greedy pigs of us all, and I’m not a bit unhappy about that prospect. Lunch break coming up? Do it. You simply must give ‘em a go.
