Paws For Thought

I really like paws for thought, often come here to get all the things I need as unlike larger chains of pet shops this place seems to know a lot more about the animals and the things that they sell and some of the smaller pet shops don’t really have any understanding or aren’t really upto the job. What I do like about paws for thought is that the animals are all looked after and cared about which isn’t always the case with other shops. They know a lot about the animals they are selling and offer some good advice too! I’m hoping to get a new addition to the family very soon and will be popping in to meet my perfect addition!

Forget the Christians and their Gregorian nonsense, in our household there is only one measure of time, Pre-​Steve and Ado-​Steve.
It’s hard to remember the time PS, the more we charge ahead into the AS era the more the past becomes fuzzy, fragmented and frankly pointless. I can’t remember what life was like for me before the advent of the Universe’s Greatest Kitten and I’m beginning not to care. Everything starts and ends with Steve. Step aside assorted mystical deities, there’s a funky black kitteh in town.
Steve, or to give him his full title Unstoppable Steve ‘Awesome’ Summers-​Jackson, came from this excellent pet shop on York Road. I’ve been going here for years for the wide range of food and treats, fishies and fishy related frippery and to buy small furry things whose entire purpose in life is to make me feel cuddly on the inside. As soon as we saw Steve we knew he was the one, he’d already made a huge impression on the staff in his time there by virtue of his mega meowy awesomeness and they still ask how he’s doing every time we pop in.
Great shop, great staff, happy and well cared for animals and an excellent example of how to do things right in a tricky and often poorly delivered industry. If Steve could say anything other than MROOOOOOOWWW, MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA and PRRRRRUPPP I know he would give a double thumbless up.

i don’t think is good shop as you say, if you go there s better if you do a bit of research or you know what you are after otherwise they try to rip you off by there advises to push you to buy more and expensive stuff and maybe you need just a basic things

Paws For thought as a name may seem like a simple play on words, highlighting Paws as it links to animal feet. Having been inside Paws For Thought, however, the emphasis quickly flips to highlight Thought. Unlike many pet shops, who I have felt are looking to sell sell sell, this shop seems different. There is a great deal of attention being paid to animal care and charities such as the RSPCA. Although I have only been there once to buy my fish some fodder, I was impressed. Their display of animals can seem a little zooish, with folks gawping, but they all seem happy and well cared for. Having never owned anything other than a goldfish in my life, I would consider coming here if I ever felt I wanted to branch out. the staff are well versed and all certified animal lovers, carers and enthusiasts!

I came here with my friend to get some food for her little dog and we ended up getting really distracted by the animals in store. .as usual.
I love pet stores that actually have animals inside for you to look at and paws for thought really do have a wicked reptile selection. I’m not a fan of them as they creep me out a lot but I kind of like looking.
They provide care sheets for loads of different animals in store which is a really good service and all of the staff really know their stuff about how to look after the animals properly.
As Susan’s review said, they advise the RSPCA on exotic animals so they really do know their stuff.

I may have mentioned before that I have a bit of a naughty habit of treating pet shops like zoos and wandering around them to gawp at creatures I have no intention of buying, but as I do this quite a lot I feel like I’ve learned a fair amount about what makes a good pet shop and this — as the website loves to tell you — really is one of the best. They actually advise the RSPCA on treatment of exotic animals, so they really know their stuff, and all the staff seem to be very knowledgeable. When I visited all the animals seemed happy and well kept, and the staff seemed very dedicated to ensuring that anyone purchasing (or even just looking at) the animals knew exactly what caring for them would entail. They also stock a full range of accessories for reptiles, fish and small and large animals, and even offer a reptile boarding house for owners who are going away! A great place to have a nosy around and a good place to start if you’re thinking of getting a pet.

They just got new vivariums installed! It looks brill!
don’t know what they’re going to keep in the MASSIVE vivs they got but can’t wait to see them!
Nice pet shop something for everyone; hamsters, gerbils, rabbits, birds, fish, reptiles. etc.
I remember when that building was a pub! lol they don’t serve drinks anymore though.

Paws for Thought has got to be the best pet shop in Leeds BY FAR!!!
I’ve got quite a menagerie of rodents, snakes, lizards, spiders and more and Paws for Thought has everything I need for all of them!
I’m more into my reptiles now and when I lived down south I used to go to a similar shop that claimed to specialise in reptiles but they were clueless. P4T on the other hand really know their stuff and are always happy to have a chat when I go in. They are also the only shop I trusted to look after my reptiles when I went to Bali last year.
And I don’t know how they do it, but they are like 25% cheaper than other shops for the same products! Brilliant prices, but that just means I end up spending more on décor, lol.
Great shop worth a visit!

This is one of the bigger pet shops in Leeds with a great range of animals, such as; fish, small furry animals, lizards, turtles, snakes, tarantulas and much more. All the food, and housing you could possibly need with very helpful knowledgeable staff. The animals are usually kept in good condition and well looked after.

has a good range of stock & a nice aquatic area. but when i needed a member of staff no one was around & i had to go looking. i dont like being hasstled by staff but like to know they are there when you need them.
a positive though is that they have a great reptile section, so if you after a lizard or snake etc, this place is good!
