The fish and chips were served swiftly but the fish was already cooked and waiting in the oven. They were OK but the fish was slightly soggy. I do like my batter crispy. Didn’t know whether to give a 2 or 3 star.

I love this plaice. sorry, place. Anyway, bad jokes aside… Hartley’s is a really nice little fish and chip shop and it’s always busy busy busy. Saying that, service is always pretty fast and you get a lot of fish and chips for your pennies. I went the other week with my flatmate to get fish and chips twice… we came home with one fish and two chips so had to go back and claim our fish back. The lady was terribly apologetic and gave us a free battered sausage for our trouble… yum! We only live a few minutes away anyway so it wasn’t a big deal to us and really, it was worth the trip back! Pop in on a lunch time for a killer chip butty!

I’m gonna go out on a limb and proclaim Hartley’s to be the best Fish & Chip establishment in Horsforth. This claim isn’t really as impressive as it sounds when you consider that the only competition is the open-when-it-wants Long Row Fisheries. Having said that, Hartley’s does do a lovely battered sausage and chips for a pretty low price, so if you don’t care about your arteries, I’d get down there sharpish.
