Enjoyed the carvers twice in a week and both times the turkey, pork & ham was very moist and delicious.(wish you had leg of lamb!) Good selection of vegetables and condiments. GIANT Yorkshire puddings were great and plenty of gravy. Had desert once which was the treacle pudding with unlimited custard. Overall very friendly service and great value! Will be back…

I stayed at the premier inn next door, so ate here a few times. I had the soup on the first night and it was brilliant, but subsequent soups seemed quite watered down compared to that. It’s served most of the time with warm ciabatta and really nice to dunk with butter, but once the bread came cold but they took it back gracefully and warmed it for me, which was nice. I’ve also had breakfast here, which is plentiful and tasty if a tad on the pricey side(£9 for all you can eat hot and cold). The mains in the evening are quite good for pub fare. the burgers are ample and served with nice skin on chips. The lasagne was very hot temperature wise so had to cool a while, but tasty, and served with garlic bread fresh from the oven with side salad. The atmosphere is a little variable in the restaurant, depending on how busy it is. The service is always good in here, with attentive staff that work hard. I’ve been in when it’s busy and when it’s quiet, and have always been served well. It does the job when you return from a hard day to your hotel room, and are looking for a simple solution for dinner.

This place is huge! but empty. Or atleast on a Thursday evening dinner time it was dead right up until I left about 11. The Pretender has had a face lift since it was Langley’s some time ago, and now its a bar with a side restaurant. The bar area was ok, lot of coloured sofas and small tvs here an there. Had the carvary, but wish I didnt. Very small meat portion and the peas and parsnips were only half cooked. Potatoes seemed dry. At about 1030 the restaurant closes and we were asked to move to the bar area which was odd.
