I went here on the back of its win as one of the best chippies in Scotland, thus my hopes were very high. If they weren’t, I’d give this place a 4*. As it was, the peas(processed, microwaved and definitely not mushy which I was expecting) were a big disappointment, and the fish tasted a bit too fishy for me(you know, as it’s sort of turning). The chips were really good, and not greasy. Reminded me of chippy chips back home in Nottingham. The restaurant section charges the same prices as the take away, so that’s good if you fancy sitting in for your fish tea as we did. Overall it’s a nice chippy and if I lived local I’d definitely be back — however it’s not really worth a detour.

The is an award winning chip shiop which has been shortlisted to the final of the national chip shop awards. There is plenty of choice from fish, chips, chicken, pizza, sausage, haggis, black puddings to name a few. There chips are especially good, just the way I like them with fluffy insides and a crsip outer. It’s open late and also at lunch times and the staff are good for a natter while they prepare your chips.

An award winning chippie. Not just locally but on a national basis too!! I dont know what the secret to their batter is but wish I had the recipe. It is so crispy yet still retains that much needed moisture so it is not too dry. Portions are more than ample but prices do not reflect the amount of stuff they expect you to eat-no wonder we are all getting bigger as a nation ha ha. Chip Box is a must stop and try and will guarantee once tried you will go back again and again!
