Abacourt House, located on an elevated position in a quiet cul-​de-​sac, offering quality four-​star silver award bed and breakfast accommodation. Built in 1894, the traditional Lakeland Slate Victorian town house offers five double en-​suite bedrooms which are ideal for a romantic retreat or much needed escape at the stunning Lake District National Park.

Abacourt House has been recently refurbished to provide guests with home-​from-​home comforts in a friendly and welcoming environment for relaxing amid beautiful surroundings. Guests are invited to take advantage of clean bedrooms offering Freeview televisions, touch lamps, tea and coffee making facilities, hairdryers and free Wi-​Fi.

With keys provided upon arrival, guests are free to discover all that the traditional market town of Keswick has to offer at their leisure, from local shops and quaint tea rooms to numerous outdoor stores, bistros, steak houses and oriental restaurants.

History

Established in 1992.

Traditional Lakeland Victorian Town House. Converted to a Guest House in 1992. All rooms had en-​suite facilities built at this time. The en-​suites have been totally refurbished in recent years, along with the guest rooms. There are many retained original features in the house. The doors & frames along with the staircase are the original pitch pine when the house was built in 1894

Originally for Seahouses Northumberland. Moved to Keswick in 2007, using my skills honed in my previous employment with the RAF at Boulmer as a civilian Mess Manager. Responsible for the overall running of the facility. Allocate accommodation from 1 night to 5 years duration, the cleaning of Accommodation and Front of House, Dining Room Service and the Bar. I worked with the Mess Committee, organising of Mess entertainment functions, within a set budget. Official Formal Functions i.e. Dining in Nights. Summer Ball and Cocktail Parties. Medal Presentations etc. Informal Functions, Steak Nights, Dances with Live Entertainment, Quiz Nights, Top Table Luncheons etc.

Received AOC’s (Air Officer Commanding) Commendation. 1998 New Year’s Honours List.
