It’s the 13 th march 2013 and I’ve just received a£27 pound order from no 3 and it was truly abominable except for the satay chicken… The rest was left As I am getting over treatment for a Brain Tumour Icould have done with something a bit better I phoned them to tell them that the Satay was good but the rest was disgusting it was gloppy congealed and a poor excuse for achinese takeaway

Awful! I ate here in 2011 and it was terrible. Soggy vegetables and generally tasteless! They offer a range of dim sum on the site but none of which is available when you call up so i can not comment on that. But the more common dishes are well below average and not worth paying for at all! Will not eat here again! Unless someone convinces me things have changed there!

Sorry No 3, this was some seriously bad food. Maybe we caught you on a(very) off day, but our takeaway was actually inedible, and not at all cheap. Everything came cold, the Salt and Pepper Tofu was more like salt and pepper dish sponge. It actually didn’t resemble tofu at all and was chewy and greasy. The Steamed Har Gau were dry and cold and tasted worryingly of old prawns. The Char Sui Ho Fun was a huge portion but was bland and tasted very old and spoiled. The only vaguely edible thing was the vegetarian spring rolls, which also came cold. Neither of us ate more than a few bites and I wouldn’t ever order from here again, the star is for the delivery guy, who was lovely and probably the friendliest I’ve ever had!

Over the years we’ve been customers the food has been consistently great which is why the bad review above surprised me. Basically this is now the only Chinese takeaway I’ll order from in Brighton & Hove.

If this is no.3, I’d love to try and see no.1, because that would certainly crank up the Unilocal stars. I’m not a huge fan of Chinese food(as we receive in England), I find that it tends to be greasy and a bit too packed with MSG. Delivery tends to be fast and reliable, although my beef in black bean sauce turned up as chicken in black bean sauce. The dishes weren’t amazing, although they were good enough to lessen my criticisms of Chinese food. No.3 is also particularly cheap, I got 2 dishes, 2 sides and a can of coke, costing me £11.20, which compared to my local Chinese, is about 10% cheaper.

Pros: Very fast delivery, very friendly staff(both on the phone and delivery), large portions, good price Cons: Overly greasy, very uneven seasoning(some dishes too salty to eat, while others tasted of nothing), meat was poor quality. Spring rolls mushy, no veg or hoy sin provided for crispy duck. … Overall I have to say we were disappointed with the food from here. Although it arrived quickly and everyone we spoke to was very friendly, the food itself was just not tasty and we ended up throwing most of it away. We would have preferred slightly less quantity but better quality, especially with regard to seasoning. As always, this was just based on our one experience, so your experience may differ!

MSG beware!!! Although as takeaways go this looks very shiny and nice, and instead of metal or plastic boxes you get the classic new York style boxes, the food from here will make you feel uneasily stuffed in no time at all. The greasy MSG ridden slop they knock out from here is not worth the money. Go to the MSG free china inn less than a mile away
