Excellent garden for children, but slow bar service on sunny days and the food is awful. Would have put one star, If it hadn’t been for the kids garden.

Fantastic atmosphere, great food and a resident Parrot. The kids love playing in the garden and the service is always excellent. Well worth a visit.

A middle-of-the-road rating for this country pub near Horsham. The menu if probably slightly more adventurous than average but the results on the occasion I visited at least were merely«OK». Service is friendly enough, but décor is a little over the top: a theme is one thing, but there is such a thing as too many stuffed animals. My companion — being a woman, more sensitised to these matters than I — did specifically commend the quality of the toilets.

This is my dad’s local pub and has been for about 30 years so I know it really well. I’ve seen quite a few landlords come and go over the years but the current family running it are by far the best. They have that perfect balance of looking after their locals(without making the place at all clicky) and being as welcoming as possible to the passing trade. The food is really good and they source all their produce locally. One of the locals farms Aberdeen Angus cows so the beef is bought directly from him. In the summer the garden gets pretty full up but is huge with plenty of climbing frames etc to keep the kids occupied. If you go on a Sunday(the roasts are excellent and really reasonable) there will definitely be a group of rosy cheeked men sitting at the bar drinking like there was no tomorrow. The one with the silver-grey hair making the most noise is my dad, I’m sure if you ask nicely he’ll buy you a drink.
