As you can just see in the picture it is ‘The Chipee’ (I didn’t log the title). I have actually had conversations about this establishment in Australia, Malta and Brazil where it is well known to many ex-​pats who used to travel the A30 before by-​pass days and in need of something to eat would stop here. It was then, and for many years, the ‘Chip and Pea’.
Anyway things have gone a little up market and smartly dressed ‘friers’ do the business exceedingly well. Nothing like a good newspaper (ah the good old days) of the nation’s favorite dish. Price is a little over £10 for two dinners not surprisingly and the owner told me there will be problems next year in obtaining good quality potatoes for chipping following all the wet weather in 2012. It’s amazing that I normally find a parking space but it can be difficult to do so but there is always the Police station across the road if you are feeling brave.
Great food. Give it a try and you won’t be disappointed !

Might as well review this place while I am here. I have been using this chip shop for a few years. The place is always nice and clean and so are the staff. It can get very busy which is always a good indication of what to expect. The portion size is not what I would say large but I prefer quality over quantity any day. The batter is always light and crispy and they do great home made cod balls. Sometimes the chips have been a bit soft and soapy but I put that down to the potatoes that week instead of anything the cooking itself. Only problem is parking is a nightmare if you want to park outside. I have to park further up the highstreet and walk down but thats me being lazy !!
