Old Bridge Hotel

Our first visit to Holmfirth and the Old Bridge Hotel. I would think parking would be a problem during the summer but we managed ok with a bit of a struggle. Our twin room was very well appointed and comfortable although bathroom was small and the single wardrobe was cramped. Overall though we were very satisfied for a one night stay. Our evening meal was beautifully cooked and presented, although our reserved table was in the centre of a family birthday party which made conversation difficult. It was a fairly noisy evening with parties but the worst late night noise came from the pub next door where bottles were thrown into bins into the early hours and shouting from their customers kept us awake.
However, this hotel has great atmosphere, a good selection of drinks and an excellent breakfast menu. Would recommend it to anyone although perhaps not those with young children.

Great food, fast & friendly service and a good range of real ales. What’s not to like!

The Old Bridge is a well established place in Holmfirth & well known though out the valley & beyond.
There is a good selection of traditional & continental beers & a good selection of wines. The menu is extensive with daily blackboard specials. The only point I would emphasize is the portion sizes are huge, so always check with the writing staff before getting carried away with ordering those side dishes :-)
I ate there again last week for the first time in what must have been years. Looking for an afternoon nack I turned to the section of the menu called «From the Bread Baskets», spying my all time favorite Bacon & Brie Baguette I decided to «go for it» — it came with a small side salad & corn chips. I toyed with the idea of ordering a side of fries but decided against it, I boy was that the right decision.
The service was fast, the portions was massive (for a sandwich), the quality was excellent & at just over £5 a bargain.
Would definatley eat there again & have no qualms recommending it to others.

Huge! yorkshire puds to die for and plenty of veg. guests in the hotel said it was spotless and a big breakfast. Everything from a cold sandwich to decadent desserts. The choice of beers is brilliant. well worth a visit if you are in holmfirth.
