I mean a Café Rouge is a Café Rouge right? I’ve lost count how many I’ve visited over the years as I’ve travelled around the UK with my work. That said, Harrogate’s version is still one of my favourites. The food is nice enough and the coffee more than acceptable, BUT, the service is what makes this place stand out. The staff are smart, polite and attentive — unfortunately a rarity in far too many eateries these days. Especially in chains. It’s a shame the view from the windows isn’t better or this would be one of the gems in Harrogate’s increasing portfolio of gastronomique sites. As I sit here writing this, I look out at a Cheque Centre, Slot Machine venue, a pawn shop and a betting shop. A real shame as Harrogate’s Café Rouge, and its staff deserve better… …still, pop in if you can, you won’t be disappointed.

We ate here all the time when we lived in Harrogate. Staff are friendly and helpful. Great menu with regular specials. We always go here when we’re in town. Covered outside seating is a great place to people watch. They make the croque monsieur by which I judge all others.

okay ive been here numerous times over the years, and as an eight year old i found it rather dark inside and scary, so i wouldn’t take your offspring here as its more for your boyfriend/date or a social lunch with friends the food is plentiful! i mean you get a lot on your plate and its tasty too! i think its really dark inside but yet the atmosphere is really nice, kind of romantic and calm, i would say it has one of the best atmospheres out of most of the places in harrogate! verdict: coming here is a must if you don’t have children

I got broken up with in this place twice(in high school) but I still have fond memories of eating frites with my best friend Joan. It’s a poor-man’s version of a Parisian café, but for Harrogate it’s as French as you’re going to get. I rather miss this place.
