Hula Nails

This unusual salon a great new discovery. Had an excellent wax and found the ambience and staff made it a fantastic experience. Will definitely be returning for more! Liz M

I walk up to this beautiful retro paradise feeling under-​dressed every time, but instantly feel at home once I make it inside. This ladies only salon is something out of a Elvis dream girl tiki film with it’s beautiful vintage décor and beautiful, friendly staff to match. They do everything from the usual manis and pedis, to something a little more special like a ‘pin up spray tan’ for pale girls which works to compliment your natural coloring rather than turn you orange. Plus, they do ‘chocolate’ waxes here — don’t be fooled (like me, claim to fame in the salon) it’s not edible, at least the wax isn’t…but your coochie will certainly seem that way afterwards. It’s competitively priced for the higher end salons around London, so while it’s not the cheapest it’s certainly worth visiting with your lady pals for a treat and a bit of a pamper.

As opposed to previous reviews of this place, it’s not the best waxing I’ve had (reviewing that), and not the friendliest staff I’ve met. The nail designs look stunning. May try it one day.
Salon —
The salon itself is nice, vintage, dark, looks like a tatoo place from outside. Nice props inside.
Staff
I’ll pass on the boring details of why i thought they were a bit rude (unwelcoming) and fake, but that was my perception. It would make such a difference if the girls were genuinely nice.
Waxing room
Not inspiring, only two thin pieces of sheet on the bed instead of a long sturdy one — unhygienic. Although they do spray what seems to be alcohol once you’re done, and although it could be an ‘eco’ approach, I’m not feeling this.
Waxing
I have quite high standards in terms of waxing…
It was definitely not pain free. It was bikini so hot wax but the wax was not that thick nor elastic and thats probably why it was quite painful. The beautician’s skills were just fine to me.
Value
It was a bit overpriced for what it was.

Best salon in London! The atmosphere is unique and fun, and the service is phenomenal. I normally go for their biosculpture gel nails, which always last me at least 2.5−3 weeks. Last week I had my first wax there — wihtout a doubt the quickest and least painful wax I’ve ever had. I’ve never had a chance to do hair and makeup here, but I’ve seen others having it done and it looks amazing. highly recommend Hula Nails!

Hula Nails is a vintage tiki style beauty parlour near Old Street roundabout. The salon is lovely and relaxing and the staff are fun and friendly. The girls really pay attention to detail — it’s the best place for a manicure with a much wider range of gelish/​biosculpture gel colours than I’ve seen before. They also do seasonal nail art styles which are really fun; think Christmas gingerbread men, penguins, reindeers and snowmen (I’ve had them all!).
When booking an appointment you have to give a 50% deposit but this can be transferred if you need to reschedule. I really recommend a visit.
