I’m sure I’ve reviewed this before but maybe I haven’t, oops. Part of me doesn’t want to tell you about its cheap drink — it’s the student union for Glasgow School of Art — or the burger & drink for £6 or thin pizza for £4. I want to keep it all to myself but t that would be cruel. I like the laid back atmosphere of the pub on the ground floor and the buzz from the students & lecturers. Sometimes there are art exhibitions happening in side rooms you can pop into and during the day they often bring out their ping pong table. Upstairs is a medium sized venue that is good for gigs and they often put of DJ’s as well as usual student nights. For me the reason it gets 5 stars are the toilets downstairs. They’ve recently changed the signs so that whichever gender you identify with you can use, nice touch.

We’re always looking for some new and exciting brunch spots to try for Brunch Club, and this month we headed to the Vic Bar & Café at The Art School. We mainly went because their brunch menu sounded really interesting — usual brunch stuff, as well as steamed buns, burgers, sandwiches. There was something in there for veggies and vegans and generally, seemed pretty awesome. Sadly, for some reason the week before our brunch outing they updated the menu and it was a lot more traditional — full breakfast, veggie options and poached eggs. I phoned to check about vegan options and they said the veggie breakfast was vegan without the egg but there didn’t seem to be any other options. On the day we grabbed out table in the school-hall vibe café and checked out the menu. You place your order at the bar and then they’ll deliver it to the table. They were so quick with the meals that one actually arrived while some people were still ordering which was pretty impressive. I got the veggie breakfast and it was enough to make up for the other wee grumbles I had about this place and the menu change. I really enjoyed it all — apart from the veggie sausage which was a bit weird — the rest of it was awesome. It was pretty cheap too — £6.50 for the full breakfast. I don’t know that I would rush back here for brunch(that Scott St hill is a killer) but I did actually really like it in the end. It was an awesome space to chill out in over brunch and the place had a pretty friendly vibe to it. Note: no highchairs. They did have one but something happened to it? It’s dog friendly.
